Shell Application for Big Picture
This is an application that I whipped up as I wanted to have a windows account called "Steam" that launched straight into "Big Picture" mode.

This has various advantages of using "other methods" that I have seen on here ... for instance by using my application it will automatically log out of the Steam Windows account when steam is closed.

You simply run the Steam Launcher... and it creates a steam Windows account for you automatically. Log into that account to finish setting it up....

... simply run this and follow the instructions

Download at:

You can click run it right from the web page and it will do the rest ... the file that you downloaded is not needed after it has been run so you can also delete it :)

Let me know what you think :)

It's not spyware ... I also have a few projects at codeproject (one of which has won a coding competition!)
... actually plan on releasing the source later ... want to implement a few other things first though ... such as gamepad to keyboard mapping for games ... so you can play steam games that do not support a controller with a gamepad :).

Thanks for the support PyGuy.

Glad you like it... That's the main reason I started making this; so that it exits back to the login screen :)

The link is not working anymore. Any chance you can provide a new one?

So it runs without having windows in the background? So it's like when you change users and log into a different users which automatically logs into big picture?

This suits my new living room PC perfectly!

My only issue is I use a dropbox folder to sync my non-cloud saves between my computers and the dropbox application doesn't run untll Explorer does. I can currently sync "manually" by running explorer.exe from steam (as a non-steam game), which then brings up my startup applications. This sort of defeats the purpose of booting directly into big picture, though. I have to log off and back in again to get rid of explorer once more.

Does anyone know how to get dropbox to automatically start up on the Steam user account?

Could you make an option so that instead of logging off (when pressing exit) the PC goes to hibernate, standby or shuts down entirely?

This is a really awesome tool! I don't have a dedicated Steam box and I need custom drivers for my Dualshock 3 controllers, so it isn't practical for my main PC, but should I ever have a dedicated Steam box this is the app I'm going to use to set it up. I loved the results.

@iagaiz - those options are in the BPM shutdown menu already...you don't have to exit Steam to sleep or shut down your PC

Doesn't work with my WIN7 ultimate T.T. It give me an error

my windows is in spanish but i think the translation of what the error says is "Error installing stean: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Love the program. Only 1 issue though. The first time I log into the steam user, the program has an error that says the steam launcher has stopped unexpectedly and requires me to log out and log back in. At this point it will work and launch into steam BPM. This, however, sort of defeats the purpose of the program.

I'm running windows 8 ultimate so I'm not sure if that's causing the problem.
