Steam VR
Latest beta seems to look for Steamvr, why must this be installed? I don't have any vr headset, so there is no reason why this should be a forced installation.

Hopefully this is caused by valve devs working on making steam client detect vr hardware and then install steamvr if vr hardware is detected.
That way the vr category of library could be made to be active only when vr hardware and steamvr software are detected by steam client.

No. I use osvr hardware and osvr software to play steamvr games so am running steam stable client. I want steamvr installed and idealy would really like steamvr to auto detect osvr hardware and auto install steamvr-osvr drivers in the right place ready to use too.!!! . :-)

What gpu and gpu drivers are you using?
What does running steamvr performance test tell you?

If you uninstall steamvr and steamvr performance test do they get reinstalled after rebooting and restarting steam?
