Fixing Broken Achievements by Downloading Older Game Versions

Sometimes changes to a game can cause one or more achievements to stop working. This can sometimes be reversed by simply restoring an older version of the game.

Below is a list of all such games known to us.

Downloading older versions of a game can be done via the Steam client's console.
Please refer to this guide on reddit to learn how this is done.

Important note: Keep in mind that restoring older versions specifically to access old exploits that were intentionally removed by the developer may affect your standing on achievement trackers such as AStats.

This list only serves to help people legitimately unlock achievements that have become broken.

Great idea, Cos. Thanks for sharing the trick. I have a couple of games to add to the "possible additions" - don't have Manifest IDs to suggest, unfortunately.

From the Depths (AppID 268650) has exactly 1 achievement, for doing the first part of the tutorial, but it cannot be unlocked. The ability to earn it was apparently removed shortly after it was added (from what I can tell, the dev temporarily added the achievement "to test something" and left it unachievable since then).

Amygdala (AppID 369060) has achievements in-game, but they haven't been working Steam-side for the last 2 years or so.

Click is definitely one that won't be fixed from an old version of the game. It wasn't updated, it just suddenly broke completely. The game definitely hasn't received any updates for as long as I've owned it.

The weird part is that you can access MP, you can see other players in there, the game just locks up when you try to start a match. That's exactly the issue that existed even when it still worked when you tried to do a second match without closing and restarting the game. Every now and then it would do it even when you did close and restart, so it just devolved to the point that it happens all the time now. A shame too, MP was actually pretty fun in that game.

As far as I can tell, the current version of Space Dream VR Demo is broken. I used an older version to get the achievements. I used:

download_depot 645140 645141 5017903174685501564

Replace the game files with the downloaded depot, and then the avocado is located in the asteroid field orbiting the star. If you head there directly from the start, it'll be on the left, and it'll stand out from the asteroids since it's a dark green color.

though comments on my guide indicate some are still having problems.

This is from Oct 2016 and will unlock all achivements except one.
Becasue of the bug with the free ball in the car park you wont be able to get the last ghost in the halloween course.
Strangely, after revalitaing files to lastest version and collecting them again, it worked. Seems this may be the only achievements that is not broken in the last patch
