Allow us to hide the Big Picture button on Steam.
For those who will not run Big Picture at all on their systems.

or for those that big picture mode button causes additional overhead on the gpu and causes some issues with apps/games. i tried the beta with that function and was very unhappy with it, therefore I do not want to see the botton, preferably be able to disable big picture mode entirely

Hope this helps

Your intentions are noble, shame on Valve to force us on the new feature.

I don't plan to use big picture anytime soon, it's pretty much pointless to me to have this highlighted button on my screen.

That button is pretty invasive to me, what's next, big advertsing banners?
I haven't a clue as to what Steam is trying to do with this. If it's for consoles then leave it on the console software.... Don't tell me we have to have Steam ported to the PC now, and the button stays... GIT RID OF IT. It is nothing I will ever use and is pointless on a PC, unless STEAM just want's to follow our every move. It's like they don't know most PC users have software that does these things correcty and much better. The navigation alone is a complete turn off.

It's truely amazing the mentality of these devs. They hate people hacking, but they do crap like this which makes people hack their software to solve the issue. Nice way to promote the trade. They don't know how to ask their customers, but would rather force their crap on us, and wait for the complaints. AT LEAST GIVE US AN OPTION YOU MORONS.

The icon looks like crap also. Who thought it was a good idea to make it look like it covers the X to exit Steam? Very evasive and annoying. Those tactics and past tactics make you guys look like scammers. The pychology used to trick people is so prevelent in society today that almost everywhere you go you find it. 90% of the rich got rich that way.
particularly silly it stays there all the time looking ugly in XP where clicking it just says "your OS is not supported"
The button really should be optional. It looks hideous, and it being so close to the top right buttons I can see it easily being misclicked.

Yup, I've had those misclicks happen to me already.
It seems most don't understand it's not used for your PC but your PC to your TV if you are feeling lazy and decide "I want to play PC games like a console gamer".
It is there to let people know about it. They will remove/move it in a few months, just like they removed the "new" from the community tab.
Totally messed up, my computers Been laggy every since... Not sure whats goin on... Im goin Back to XBOX

LOL that is what i was saying, at least closing the main steam window fixes this issue for me, however i have to create shortcuts to the games i want to play, instead of clicking on them from my libary in the main window like i usually do. :(
It doesn't really bother me a whole lot and I can't say I've noticed any performance changes since the update, but it is ugly and I don't plan on using the feature so I wouldn't mind the option to remove it.

I even LIKE the idea of Big Picture mode and intend on using it on my HTPC, but I'm sick of accidentally clicking that stupid button on my desktop. It's just so inconvenient.

Give me an option to disable it in the interface menu. Seriously, that's all I ask!

I think the idea of forcing everyone to have BIG bigpicture button very close to window control buttons on every desktop steam client is advertisement.
Because users like to have ads on things they pay for, right?

I think the button is prominent temporarily. Once people learn about the feature, I am sure it will get reduced or stuck in a context menu.

For all you guys hating the new UI, the old one is tiny on big TV's. It is hard to read and had no way to zoom or increase text size. There is an increasing population of players that play steam games on their big a$$ TV's, from across the living room. Traditional UI's for computer screens, 2 feet from your face, are hard to read and navigate in a living room environment. Finally having a big, easy to read UI is awesome, IMHO.
