Will Steam ever use AUD? - Yep!

Isn't Australia experiencing some sort of slump in the dollar following a boom in mineral wealth atm? That's probably whats skewing the exchange rate. I read somewhere that the AUD rose too high. I don't really see how using the AUD will help, since it doesn't always work out as a perfect conversion. Companies love charging more in the native currency, hence Europe getting shafted by america on a regular basis when it comes to electronics prices.

For example, that game could be advertised in AUD but be $3.50AUD.

But I'm not an economist, so take that with an ocean of salt.

If steam used AUD they'd just have to take the loss on exchange instead of you, so i'm not sure they'll do that.
I would rather it be the price that im going to pay so instead of them putting alan wake up for $2.99USD i would see $3.29AUS.

Except Steam converts the AUD to USD at the same exchange rate as they would convert the prices, so it wouldn't make any difference if they showed the equivalent AUD price like they do for £ and € and presumably a number of other currencies.
Buy some Steam Wallet cards from EB Games, because of the Aus store being in USD you get a better rate as you can buy $50 wallet credit for 50AUD.

It may say EB on the store but its Gamestop...they all are. EB was always owned by the same mother company. My store had Software etc till they closed it cuz they would have to sign a new lease to change the sign. :P
I was fine with it when we were always paying the US price, but now they have special Aus/NZ prices for some games but still won't even use our own currencies!?

Deep Silver and Bethesda Softworks are the two biggest at doing this at the moment.

IE: Dead Island Riptide $39.99 in the US and $69.99 in AU + we get the bonus of paying in USD.

You'll see a pattern at which company's are more than happy to really screw you over in you live in Australia.

I personally think if we're being charged US rates we should get US prices....
