What are you going to do about AVG ? After performing any steps to troubleshoot (as in uninstalling AVG temporarily and restarting your computer), you must perform the verification of the game files EXACTLY as stated here for Windows 7 to get the .exe "cleaned up" again and properly functioning for the game.

Try running the EXE you copied on you're desktop, or create one and run it in admin mode or update some drivers.
