We need more information from you to answer that, please.

Post your complete system specs on that computer including the exact operating system.

What is your antivirus program ?

There it is...AVG. AVG has been seen by me alone to cause many issues with Steam in this forum for others. AND it is on the list, in bold , and with a green symbol.

One thing at a time, please. Did you read that support page ?

What are you going to do about AVG ? After performing any steps to troubleshoot (as in uninstalling AVG temporarily and restarting your computer), you must perform the verification of the game files EXACTLY as stated here for Windows 7 to get the .exe "cleaned up" again and properly functioning for the game.

Also, a search of the Help and Tips forum for AVG...

Yea I have AVG and all of my games work on steam and prior since my AMD setup. That's 5 years of no problems with AVG.

Try running the EXE you copied on you're desktop, or create one and run it in admin mode or update some drivers.

Hmmm....not according to many posts in the forum. What works for some, does not work for others. And it is still on the list.

Avast is on the list too. Not in bold, but on the list.

Norton is one of the worst ones.

I am actually surprised it has not been added in bold and with a green symbol.

But I will stop now, as I don't want to derail the OP's topic. This all just shows how problematic or misconfigured AV programs can really wreak havoc on Steam and games.
