Steam vs Console?

Steam > Console for days. Does anyone think next gen consoles will effect PC gaming hugely? Thoughts.

It has already started affecting PC gaming. To see big names of games come out only for consoles is a huge frustration! Developers are trying to combine pc game play and console game play and this, some times, effects the whole quality of a game...

Considering the consoles were behind high-end computers the moment they were announced, I don't think they'll make much more of a difference than the older consoles.

While consoles lag behind current PC hardware, console players never have to worry about system compatibility issues when playing games. Consoles are about making games more easily accessible to the general public; for people who don't know enough about computers to troubleshoot hardware and software incompatibilities. That is a convenience that PC users will never be able to enjoy.

Steam are moving into the living room gaming scene anyway, next gen won't out perform good PC's and everyone has a computer anyway, a $700 PC is more useful than a $500 Xbox and a $400 laptop.

consoles are just name brand PC's with limited functions and crapy hardware that can't be upgraded..
there's no real hardware distinction between consoles and PC's anymore. it's just the OS and the DRM ...
with steam OS comming out yor can basicly build your own console. eventualy tablets will be powerful enough and cheap enough that the gaming platform will switch to tablets and smartfone..
Sony and Microsoft will come out with thier own name brand hardware like they do know but it will just be like any other hardware you can buy excpet it carries a name brand that you pay extra for,
