Crash On Stratup-help?

So I've had this game for a couple weeks now off of Steam and I really enjoy it bu tall of a sudden today, it decided to stop working. The game begins to load like normal and the screen goes black for a second but then the window closes and the game crashes like it never even started up. Please help me. What should I do?

i had this problem after the patch too! playing the gfwl version first fixed it for me

Posted by weedo on the old forums: "I went into the game directory and launched game.exe directly, that's the GFWL version and it did work fine. Then I launched the Steamworks version and it works fine now too. I guess you have to launch the GFWL version or it wont work at all."

wow, yea, that cleared it up for me as well. Just sucks for the people who couldn't run the gfwl version in the first place.

Ya that seams to work. I find it odd though that this would happen. It had me really bummed out for a while.

Colonel Lawrence: GFWL is "Games For Windows Live" it's like Xbox live I guess but for PC Windows.

MrSegraves: Sometimes it still crashes for me but I found that it works like 100% of the time if it is run through windows live instead of steam but sometimes it does not give me the option to choose windows live so it crashes... I find that if you just try to open it like 5 times then it will probably display the option. I don't understand the system but at least I can still play it.

I've been havign a problem like this... I c an see the Game.exe Folder, but how do I launch the game from it? Thanks in advance ;) ~ Squirtle

What is the game directory? How do i launch the Game.exe version? thx for the help if anyone responds...

I don't know if it is possible to launch the game from the exe but on my computer which is Windows 7 there is a 'link' theat has a picture of the game shortvut on it... it basically is the shortcut and you can launch it from there but Iv'e never tried launching from the exe soooo.... idk I hope someone else can help more.

Still have the same problem. It's offensive to me how much BS I've gone through just to get this to work. I would go to sleep happy if the company who released this worthless port went out of business.

Ahh... OK, had a bit of a time finding it, but after adding yet more info about my WL account, it then let me activate the key and then it dowloaded and installed yet more updates.. but now the game is working!! Thanks, Zoreslav, very much. I guess no one else here knew how to do that? There was no info on Steam about it eitherActivate the key need through the site Windows Live https://live.xbox.com/
