Hydrophobia: Prophecy

Hydrophobia: Prophecy

Worth Buying? Depends...
Here are the negatives:
  • Quite a few necessary (plot-wise) cutscenes. I enjoyed them, but they do interfere with the smooth, immersive gameplay.
  • The ability to manipulate water, which is tricky and fun, isn't gained until the last bit of the game, so you'll get to work on your shooting, platforming, hacking, and swimming skills until then.
  • The end/only boss fight is some ol' BS. Here's a guide to defeating S.A.R.A.
  • Took me 10 satisfying hours to beat, but not complete.
  • It may require a lag fix. This should do the trick: Ctrl+Shift+Esc (Windows Task Manager) > Processes > Right-click 'Hydrophobia: Prophecy' > Set Priority > Normal.
  • There's no sequel planned.

If you don't mind the negatives, here is my review on the game.

It woud be great for everyone considering purchasing Hydrophobia: Prophecy if we all used this discussion, or another, as a list of pros and cons.

Something I haven't found room for in my review yet:
The game surprisingly managed to get me to care about the characters introduced.
It is incredibly immersive with its minimalistic approach to the HUD.

I finished it in 2.5 hours. Maybe didn't find every collectable, but still. It's short.
