Is my PC strong enough to run borderlands?
Hello I'm kind of new to PC gaming. I've got a decent PC and have been running games like The binding of Isaac, Gungeon and don't starve. I want to get borderlands 1 and 2 and get mods like physX but am worried I might have a lot of lag or not be able to run physX. So what graphics card should I have and any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you share your hardware specs and screen resolution with us, it's kind of hard to judge off of 'decent pc', no offence.

Borderlands 2 recommends a GTX 560 or higher, which is a very old mid-end card. Any card made in the past six years should be able to handle it provided it's a gaming card (so for Nvidia anything where the last two digits are 50, 60, 70, or 80).

As for Isaac and Gungeon, almost anything can run those.

You provided no information. We'll need your specifications before an assumption can be made. Also, PhysX is a physics engine NVIDIA bought out a few years ago, not a mod.

Ok. Just checked my specs.
My processor is- AMD A4-7300 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 3.80 GHZ
Installed memory- 8.00 GB
System type- 64- bit Operating System, x64-based processor.
Im sorry about the lack of info. I wasn't around my PC at first. And I'm also very new to this stuff. So I don't really know what I'm doing but I'm trying to learn. So thank u for everything so far.

I used to play BL 2 it highest settings 1080p on x4 965BE / crossfired 6870s very smooth but those apus just aren't that strong so it's a guess what you'd get.

That might get you into the game, but it's not gonna run well. If it's possible I recommend getting a beefier PC ASAP.

The main problem is actually the CPU. Because it's an FX, your options for upgrading other parts are extremely limited. It would be better and more cost effective just to scrap what you have now and start fresh.

It will likely struggle, alot. But, buy it from steam and if it doesn't run and you don't play more than 2 hours, you can refund it.

Hmm. Ok. So if I were to scrape it where should I look for a better PC? Like what should I get or what should I look for? I defently want something I could upgrade and improve as I learn more and get more money. The guy that sold me this one told me it was good for that.

Well I am afraid, you were sold a lie, it's an old platform with no worthwhile upgrade route.
So the big question kind of becomes how much money do you have to work with?
TheEvilMango Nov 20, 2017 @ 11:41pm
Well not much honetsly. Probably 150-200. Plus whatever I could get for my PC. But I could always save up for a good one. My favorite games r Skyrim Borderlands and Diablo 3. What be the best option for running those?
DefinitelyNotMonk Nov 20, 2017 @ 11:45pm
In which case buy yourself a nvidia 1050ti it should get you gaming and at playable settings / FPS, it'll be around 150, the CPU etc can be worried about much later then.

Is there alot of options for good upgrades for it?

A 1050Ti is itself an upgrade part.

Well, your on an outdated platform, using the old ddr3 when everything new uses ddr4, the CPU options are limited by the motherboard, but even the best AMD offering pre ryzen is hugely overshadowed in gaming by budget Pentiums from Intel (the reason ryzen mattered so much is it's actually competitive), so on the CPU front you are basically looking at new mobile, ram and CPU, the one place you can have a solid improvement is to fit a dedicated GPU (remembering to plug the monitor into orbit the motherboard as you do now), and the best option with your budget is the gtx1050ti

If you have an FM2+ Motherboard then you can upgrade to an A8-7600 Quad Core, and buy a GTX 1050Ti for around $245, other than that, I'd say just upgrade to a GTX 1050Ti, graphics wise you'll be able to run Skyrim at 1080p, in ultra settings.
