Show XBox Controller Buttons In The Game. Is this possible?
Hi Everyone.
Has anyone managed to show the correct button control hints for the XBox Controller within the game?
I am using the XBox controller and everything seems to be working, however all ingame hints still show as Mouse and Keyboard controls. e.g. Press SPACE to jump this gap, Press G to throw a grapple hook.
It's making the game unplayable as I have no idea what I should be pressing.
I need it to say "Press A to jump, Press Right Trigger to fire" etc.
Thanks.

No I don't think so. To learn the controls i just had to mess around a little until i got used to it. Sorry man

It's really easy to learn the controls even if you can't see them so at least you won't struggle. Good luck.

How do you walk with the 360 controller? I'm in the Damocles room, where this is needed, and I don't think any button corresponds with ALT

If you are using the controller then just pushing lightly on the stick is walk :) Only reason it has a button is because keyboard buttons are digital input.

Also the onscreen prompts quickly become a non-issue after the first levels as they only pop up during the tutorial. After that the game uses picture symbols for actions like grappling and grabbing objects.

OK, so... In case anyone ever sees this in some distant future... I found a workaround:
  • 1.Go to the settings screen

  • 2.Remap the buttons using some dummy keys, like 'space' and 'alt'

For example: for Jump, remap it so it looks like [A Button/SPACE/ALT]
When you remap a command, the previous assigned keys are pushed out.

  • 3. Repeat it using the same dummy keys for all commands, that way the only commands left are your gamepad's.
    Example: Crouch/Roll will be
(Which would leave Jump with only [A Button])
(You might want to set those dummy keys to some dead command like "Sneak" when you're finished, since you don't really need that with the gamepad)

  • 4. The game will then show you the only buttons available in the prompts.
i.e. Press "A Button" to jump.

  • 5.Profit

Also as another note, if you disable hints in-game then button prompts for quick time events will also be disabled.

way for this to be saved?

It is not necessary to enter "dummy keys".
Press BackSpace to delete all of the controls, then re-add the gamepad control:

To make sure controller buttons are still displayed as hints the next time the game is restarted, it is necessary to delete the keyboard/mouse controls completely.

Lmao why would you need a game to tell you what the controls are to know what the controls are, you should know what the controls are lmao. Ive never understood why games even tell the player what the controls are

Not neccessarily. Even in the same game a button can have multiple uses depending on its' context, and across different games it can do completely different things.

That's a "you" problem. Sounds like you need to fail some QTEs due to a lack of button prompts.
