Little review from someone who didn't play these back in the day but absolutely loves the series now. I love a good murder mystery story and had vaguely seen references to the games online growing up which I thought were funny, so this collection seemed right up my alley. They remastered the funny Capcom lawyer game? Sure I'd play that.

Anddd I got all of that but I also didn't expect to get so involved in the overarching plot and character development?? (also gay lawyer angst???). Still making my way through the last case of the second game (which is fantastic so far), but boy is this such a comfort series for me now. It's funny as hell and has such a unique identity as a series.

On the negative side tho: I will say the deductions tend to range from pretty obvious to "wtf is this leap" ridiculous throughout every case, which can be frustrating when choosing evidence during the trials but I've kind of embraced it as part of the charm. More frustrating is that some of the investigations have the most specific non intuitive linearity that you need to follow which can have you going from location to location with frustration as to what specific thing you missed and where. Also that one case with the grown ass men lusting over a teenage girl (who is mentally a kid) is yikes, but we don't talk about that one. The quality of cases tends to vary but how good the good ones are waaaayy overweighs the meh ones. The cases that involve the main cast are so *chef's kiss*.

Despite those gripes I have with the more frustrating parts of these games, I still love them and the main characters to bits (Edgey boi is number one in the heart). <3

finally got around to beating it not sure why I chipped away at this game for 5 years but I really liked it overall, definitely some cases were a bit bad but overall the main story each game presents is pretty good, once things get going in the courtroom and it gets heated its when the game is at its best, steam just released the port of the Apollo games and there's also the ace attorney chronicle games as well so this game is a great one to start with if you are looking to get into the series and if you do get into it there is loads to play which is nice, all the games work great on the steam deck as well.
