However, although the Creation Engine is heavily inspired by the Gamebryo Engine, the two engines are infact different. I say this as I speculate if Fallout 4 [next gen title] will use the creation engine. If so, then we should see the creation engine using proper 64-bit technology by then; maybe bethesda will patch this into skyrim at a future date? [doubtful but we can all hope].
Many people still use 32bit OS too. Maybe in 4 more years or so, we will see more 64bit games, but support for XP is only just starting to drop off. An increase will accure after 2014 when MS drops XP support.
Exactly. They're taking into account that not everyone has a super tricked-out machine, nor can they afford to upgrade. That's usually why people go to consoles; consoles don't have system requirements, they're designed to play everything released during their life cycle.
This is because the OS, as well as any other stuff you have running under the hood, is using up the same ammount of ram as before, but having more ram in your system means there is more ram available for allocation to Skyrim alone.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head here. 69.13% of the computers queried by Steam are running a 64-bit native version of Windows. 42.31% of the systems queried have more than 4GB of RAM. The *only* reason we don't see 64-bit versions of our games is because PC games nowadays are ports of console games, and the consoles don't have 64-bit capabilities. It's disgusting and ridiculous that we program for the least common denominator, instead of programming for the top of the heap and then porting DOWN.
And I have around 100 mods installed.
What people do not understand is that "made for xbox" just like you mentioned means made for the weakest system. What makes me laugh about this is xbox fanboys think it means their system rocks ROFL
Idk, maybe you have lighter set of mods? For me Skyrim hits like 3.9gb and then freezes up or ctds... and htis is after cleaning up mods, load orders, etc.
My skyrim allways crash when it reaches between that usage.
