Mods cost money now
Did I miss something? Did EA buy out Valve? Mods, that have been free for at least fifteen years, now cost money. Who's bright idea was this?

What are you talking about...? I haven't paid anything for any mod I'm using currently and the last time I modded my game was yesterday.

Edit: Oh, I see now. This is why I don't use the Workshop.

Edit 2: Others have made really great points. What's stopping modders on Nexus from coming here and trying to force us to pay for their mods? I for one won't be buying in. Hopefully the modding community continues to create great content without forcing folks to buy their mods.

Pretty sure it was the idea of various modders and Bethseda if anything. Not all mods are going to cost, and Nexus is better than the workshop anyways. Not a huge deal.

They don't cost money, but mod makers can choose so.

I do agree that this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid idea.
that still sets a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up precedent. it means it's gonna be the norm now.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. i mean people deserve reward for their effeort. it's just that it goes against everything it started as.

They should allow donations not purchases.

this is the most infuriating thing thats happened on steam for a while. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ piece of ♥♥♥♥.

And now if people start to actually pay for mods ... it is the end.
I am all for a donate (if you want/can) button.

But the way I see this coming it will be soon all paid workshop stuff.

Seriously, valve ?

But they just opened the can of worms, now everyone and their mom is going to move their mods here and only here or cut big features out of the "free" version. Modding for this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Absolutely horrible idea. I am not going to pay for damn mods and DLC's on top of that! I dont think supporting mod makers is bad but forcing it is ridiculous. I honestly think better way would be to just to put up a paypal link to donate which would be completely optional...

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ JUST GOT REAL

R.I.P. elder scrolls modding. There will be enough special people willing to actually pay for this. Clever, Gaben&Bethesda.

I thought better of the latter.

That worked out so well for pre-order, early access, and season passes right?

This is a horrible idea, no one is paying for a mod. Lawl. I'm kind of shocked Bethesda gave the ok for this.

I see the point of it but a donations box would have worked 10 times better. I know that I will never pay for a mod. ever.

Or, you know, just use Nexus. Since it's better than the workshop. And has more mods. And is always free. I didn't know people use the workshop so religiously
