"Move it Dammit for NPC Companions and Followers" by Apogee777
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4020/?
Don'y know about any steam workshop version unfortunatly. Right now it is impossible to find something in the workshop even when you know the exact name of the mod, even when you know that it is there. My suggestion is looking at youtube if you have problem with nexus.
Honestly not sure why Bethesda never fixed that themselves through patches. Oblivion had a few temporary followers, and those always moved out of your way without any delay whatsoever.
Part of the fun is knowing you have to do a little evil to do a little good.
For example: killing grella the kind is by every definition of the word, evil(even if she is evil)
Yet you know the law wont punish her so you have to choice: murder her and save the kids.
Or let her live and condem the kids.
Murder is murder no mather how justifiable(even exuction are legal murders)
So instead of feeling sorry for the dog.
Take holy vengence on its owners.
So they cant make more cute inocent(give me a bucket i got to puck) puppies into blood thirsting beasts.(glee)

Oooh! Never thought of the calm thing, thanks. May go back to an earlier save and try it.
1. I've killed the dog a number of times, I just haven't liked it, the dog didn't have a choice to be there. Grelod is fun to kill. I've finished the Dark Brotherhood quest murdering all those people, including the mine owner in Dawnstar. I've murdered a guard from each hold just so I could display a set of all 9 armors. I've even eaten the Priest of Arkay and, since he's a guy, not in the fun way. So I have done the evil.
2. Will give this mod a try, thanks.
Wait, what? No, no no, no, no!
You are going the leave that poor loyal dog behind closed doors, without food, water and caret to guard it's butchered masters body?
I wish I had an emoticon where Linus screams "Aaugh!"
I always deal with dogs first, by shooting an arrow from shadows. (Even if this is an computer game,) there is no need to let them follow how you kill their masters.
I allways act same. I didn't have any problems to stick Astrid's soul in to gem, but I don't leave animals in gages to suffer.
Ever thought of using the dragon shout, "ANIMAL ALLIGIANCE" ?????? HMMMMMM??
You would be surprised how effective it is.
Redoran's Retrat is one of low level bounties in Whiterun, so you probably visit it before level 10. There isn't much of a change of getting any parts of this shout before that.
However, you have a good point and solution. Those who are not busy to raise their level, or in a direct need of money, can leave this and similar quest to wait, until they have at least part of this shout.
Good call. Didn't even cross my mind, because places to get pats of this shout are probably ones that my stealthy and thieving characters never visit.
