Dragons aren't spawning, and it's probably my fault. Can I fix this?
I have done the first few series of quests so often that I am sick of them. Even with "Live another Life", the entire business in Bleakfalls Barrow and the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller just annoys me now.

So, when I made this newest game, I used player.movetoqt a few times. Not very often--but once when I got the Barrow quest, and three times during the Greybeards bits (jumping right to their hold, then straight to the horn, then straight back to them). I also used some console commands to basically skip the whole Shouts tutorial, where you learn the second word of Fus Rho Dah and the first word of Whirlwind Step. I added those shouts with console commands, since I didn't automatically get them just by skipping that bit of the quest.

Either way, I've killed the named dragon in Kynesgrove, and I haven't seen any natural dragon spawns. I thought I heard one roaring in the distance after the Kynesgrove kill, but I never saw it. I've also been given a bounty to kill a dragon, although I haven't gotten around to seeing if there's actually a dragon there.

Is there a way to edit the .ini files or console commands to increase (read: create) the spawn rate of dragons? There are no other issues with the game aside from this, and the mods I'm using are all passive (things like SkyUI or glowing ores) that would really surprise me if they somehow affected the dragon spawn rate. That makes me think I just skipped some point where values were changed, and if I can figure out what the value is and how to manually change it, I'll solve my own problem.

search the worshop or nexus there is a mod to increase trhe spawning but first check that dragon bounty. because you did use commands to skip stuff expect problems

Skyrim unbound comes to mind but it is also an alternate start mod but you can configure other stuff, also more dragons and much more dragons

While I can't give you a 100% surefire fix to your issue, it's most likely due to a bug that may have developed while you skipped through the content. I can relate 100% to the annoyance of redoing the starting quests before you get the ball rolling in Skyrim, but I always end up doing it and actually enjoying it in the process. Since you're not too far into the game, I'd suggest a clean restart and just suffering through the beginning, haha. Heck, once you get to Riverwood you're not *required* to do anything, so head over to Riften, do some thieves guild stuff, and hit up the Dragonstone in Bleakstone Barrow when you get the urge!

I mean, I could just install the Deadly Dragons overhaul mod, but that sort of feels like bundling up your leg in a cast after stubbing your toe. It might work, but I'd prefer just to have a short, simple bit of code.

go to Bleakfalls barrow and get the Dragonstone for the Jarl

Whats probably happened since you used the console is that you've skipped over a quest stage or two and since it hasn't completed properly its not setting up the next one correctly.

There are a series of commands you can issue like setstage <quest id> <quest stage> and I think getstage <quest id>

I can't think of anything other than going through the list of main story quests up to this point and checking the stages of all of them to see they've all completed correctly. Looks you have some homework to do. Even then theres no guarantees, the game is complex and its easy to bork something if you start messing about with its core components with the console.

Yep.

I also have to agree with Smile n Fire. If the start of the game bugs you, then installing Skyrim Unbound is your best choise of action. I am using it myself, to prevent tying the Civil War (overhaul) with the main quest. I wanted my character to be a standard soldier in this war and consentrate on Dragonborn business later on.

Mod can be found from Workshop, but it has optional dowload site for players like myself, who do not want Steam to manage our mods.

Thanks, I'll try this before I restart the game or install anything else.

I really don't feel like I've borked it too hard, since everything else is working as advertised. I'll update when I try all of this.

You should probably read posts before you offer advice--you would've been able to tell that I've already done that.

Yeah, well to be repetitive: heed IIja (Ref) he knows of what he speaks. If you have to depend on Console commands your game is BORKED whether is a a "hard bork" or you know the fluffy kind.
