i dont know if you seen this but the second problem sounds very much like yours.about realtek drivers.
1) Download imagecfg from https://robpol86.com/guides/ImageCFG/ to your game system directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Deus Ex - Invisible War\System)
2) Start, Run, Type cmd.exe and hit enter
3) Type cd c:\Program Files (x86)\Deus Ex - Invisible War\System
4) Type copy "DX2.exe" "DX2.backup.exe"
5) Type copy "DX2Main.exe" "DX2Main.backup.exe"
6) Type copy "Ion Launcher.exe" "Ion Launcher.backup.exe"
7) Type imagecfg -u DX2.exe
8) Type imagecfg -u DX2Main.exe
9) Type imagecfg -u "Ion Launcher.exe"
10) Play game.
Well... what finally worked for me was to shut down all unneeded background apps - after that the loading works pretty much as expected. Saw a suggestion somewhere else also that for some reason Logitechs controller applications (have keyboard/mouse/gamepad myself) seems to have something to do with it so it might specifically be those only. At least the conclusion was finally some background software interfering with the loader.
I didn't even have to run it in any compatibility setting after that either.

1) I used the other exes found elsewhere that are not Steam protected. I'm not sure this is required though.
2) Used DXIW Widescreen patcher found at WSGF to set full HD resolution for my screen and correct FOV.
3) Shut down Skype completely, otherwise the game will wait for something from it each load for several minutes (discovered it via 'wait chain' Windows feature). I didn't just log off, but chose 'exit Skype'.
4) Made the game run in a window by adding StartupFullscreen=False into [WinDrv.WindowsClient] part of the <Your username>\Documents\Deus Ex - Invisible War\user.ini file. Without this step the game just crashed each load without starting a new process.
After this you can run the game and it should be able to function to a degree: it will crash each level change or load, but you can click 'close' in each crash report and new instance of the game will load up. In addition, your task panel will be visible at the bottom of the screen. Not very nice solution, but the game can be played through with it if you really want to complete the DX story like I wanted (DX: Human Revolution Directors Cut - original DX - this excuse for the finale).
I am using 2005 era laptop and still using Windows XP SP3 Home Edition 32-bit
Single Core 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 128MB integered video card supported Pixel Shader 2.0 and what's wrong to run this classic game?
