Have you checked to see if the game is even there?

if its not there, then you will have to reinstall it, im suprised the verify didnt fix it.

you should get kenties deus exe launcher http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/

use that to run deus ex instead

run it directly from the that directory rather than the library, if your still gettings errors... then its windows your having problems with, not deus ex... probably a virus or something

That does sound strange. I would backup your save games, delete all local content, and then reinstall the game. It sounds like something became corrupted somehow, although I'm not at all sure what.
ill try that out, it might do the trick.

Wow, that's a really odd problem, never heard anything like it before, not like I'm an expert or anything but I feel like I spend my life looking on how to fix PC games. Very strange. Hope you get it working, this game is fantastic. I'd say try contact Steam support.

nah its got nothing to do with steam api, it sounds more like something has changed the file association for the exe, or something like that... or hes trying to run a shortcut to a file thats not there.. either way, if hes installed kenties launcher and is trying to run directly from that, then that takes steam entirely out of the picture, and it has to be a windows problem.. so the next thing to do is run a virus scan, and perhaps revert to a windows restore point

or you could try to mess with registry entries, but unless you know what your doing then i wouldnt advise it

It seems like it is a Steam API issue that sometimes happens. Try the suggestions in this thread. Hope one of these gets you back to playing. Good luck.

Glad you got working again. Do be sure to do a full malware check too. That might have been the problem. Good luck.
