And shame on you, now Avous will be feeling hurt that you forgot. Taught me a lot when i was noob and he still knows a few things about the DD-endgame that i do not.
If it is just for lols, then just use the generic dps-spec rules from the other characters.
@Alien, there are reasons. For generic "getting most dps" use it is a terribly bad choice, but it does have a valid use or 2. Killing bosses is just not one of them.
Well, what the hell. I have a few minutes.
First of all, I HIGHLY recommend using DPS Monks and Barbarians over a Summoner for multiple reasons,
1: Monk Hero Boost affects pets so it's better than having two pets on a singular character because the Monk can DPS too and improve Tower Defenses.
2:Barbarians with Propeller Cats can direct their damage they don't shoot wildly at the closest Creep.
3. Monks and Barbarians have a higher base health than the Summoner and they scale better than the Summoners
4. I kinda want a Pina Colada I don't have any pineapple juice, coconut milk, or white rum... I just have whiskey and a little bit of vodka.**
**This is only a problem if you're me
If you still want a DPS Summoner for WHATEVER reason... Start with Seahorses. I'd replace a Seahorse with a Propeller Cat to boost the singular pets DPS as it can easily go above twice the damage Finally, you'll want to replace your Seahorse with a Mega Chicken from Tinkerers Lab.
And now I'm going to tell you why you wouldn't want a DPS Summoner again.
Monks Hero Boost acts like a propeller cat and even stacks WITH a Propeller cat. However due to Nightmares 84%~ nerf to Hero Damage DPS pets are recommended for the monk over a Propeller Cat as they do massive damage IF coupled with Hero Boost.
for any NON Monk class I recommend getting the Propeller Cat though as without a boost a good weapon will out DPS a pet.
My Hawk Stance did about... 40-50,000,000~ Damage? in Nightmare with a Propeller Cat where about my DPS Monks boosted Chicken did about 2-5,000,000~ per egg. Hawk Stancing Barbarian DECIMATED it.
It's been a long time since I've played so you get my min max estimates.
Oh, and Summoners can't do Assault Maps.
Barbarian are best at Bosses
Monk are best at Anything Else
The reason for this is because a lot of bosses have an event that triggers when they go under a certain amount of hp. Barbarians who can do a lot of damage in a singular strike can drop them a lot lower and ignore repeating fight mechanics more than a monk can.
For example, I only have to work my way up to the Old One's head TWICE on my Barbarian while I need to work my way up to his head THREE times on my Monk.
Its for that reason Barbarians are best for Bosses Summoners I can't really think of anything that would be significantly easier with a summoner besides repairing at a distance but a Monks Tower Boost ability does just as well with anything that isn't a huntress trap.
And now we go back to if you STILL want a DPS Summoner
I'll list your stat priority. Remember Mega Chicken > Seahorse and get a Propeller Cat.
Stat Priority for a DPS summoner is purely Hero Strength > Hero Health. Stat priority on for Seahorses/Mega Chickens is Number of Projectiles > Attack Speed > Pet Damage and for the Propeller Cat you have Boost Number of Heroes > Boost Bonus > Boost Range > Hero Strength > Hero HP
Tydo I have only one reasson for a Dps summoner and that is to make it easier for me to stay alive when farming for better armor. Avous just told me that i will still die fast. Have to reconsider it it seems. Sry for the short reply but im at work now and i should not be posting ;-)
You are right though, it is for farming armor, so you can run around and flashheal and stuff like that on survival while still getting the 100% armor droprate.
What i did was using a laserbot and a monkey. Could have gone with a assault droid and a chicken, but i didnt have those then.
Bot was about 10-11k or so.
The pets were not really to do dps duty, it was more to be able to hit things that sometimes get stuck in geometry or a clusterf*ck of mages on gastraps.
For resists, full 90% in tavern, but try to get more for NM. Staying alive is primary, damage output is secondary.
At least 1-1.5k in flashheal however way you do it. It is a great skill when used right and lets you ignore having cast-rate (it is instant) once your jester has finished upgrading, making it easier to gear that summoner.
I have no set rule for how much to put in health. Once you can reliably stay alive (and not just by hiding in phaseshift) when you are not tempting fate, then you have 'enough'. Get those resists up though and dont go in like mike tyson.
If you are having trouble getting mana midwave or get lazy, you could replace 1 pet with a genie and earn some that way, but if you are filled up at wave start you should have enough to flashheal enough to get through to next wave, so you can stay in phaseshift during combat.
Movespeed, get it to the cap.
A booster monk will be a stronger choice, naturally, but for the scenario of farming armor on survival then dps summoner is the way to go for your active character - just leave your builder one afk in phaseshift (if you have a controller to park him).
Obviously my setup is more of a stay alive and support(and loot) that the outright dps approach that Avous suggest.
The biggest differences are that i would put more in health (up to a point) before prioritizing attack.
And very different pet choices. A chicken is lot more dps than a bot. The cat is only valid if you have one that gives more than 100% damage boost - i dont know exactly the number when it does that.
Again thx a lot guys, it is highly apreciated!!
DPS Summoner don't have a 'DPS' if you see someone using 'DPS' Summoner then it's mainly for 3 things:
- using Genie and attacking pet -> Upgrade Summoner
- using Guardians -> Booster Summoner (e.g. for Mythical Real Time Strategist)
- used to farm armor on Survivals -> Farmer Summoner (I always use one during my runs and I do not die, I'm not in Phase and I'm always walking around, Avous has no clue)
@Avous
For pure DPS soloing you choose (in descending order of DPS):
1st Monk
2nd Barbarian
...
For pure DPS with a mate you build a team of (in descending order of DPS):
1st Monk
2nd Barbarian
For pure DPS with at least 2 mates you build a team of (in descending order of DPS):
1st Monk
2nd Barb
3rd and 4th Squire or Series EV (highest DPS in-game if boosted by Monk and Cat)
Can you plz tell me pew pew what you do so you don't die? Since i just build me a summoner for farming armor, i was thinking on using my former DPS trans gear, that gear has good resistance 90 in the tavern but not so good a flash heal bonus,
thank you for the explination :)
Avoid spiders, stay out of jumprange of ninjas, dont dance with ogres. And really really really do not let copters get a shot at you.
Dont get surrounded or cornered - and phaseshift out if you do.
Make sure that either phase or overlord is off cooldown before taking any chances.
Get resist up!
Move move move, strafe/sidestep projectiles, get out of splash range (ogreballs splash).
Dont do stupid stuff like going afk, without phaseshifting, in a place where something can reach you.
Phaseshift! And dont take risks until the cooldown is over.
Did i mention phaseshift? You only need to exit it to collect mana, loot and occasionally use the pet to hit something the defenses can not reach... or to let your huntress guardian put your harpoons on LSD.
In short: avoid getting hit and get resist up for the few times that you do.
If you are having trouble getting enough flashheal, then a good starting point is to change a pet. It is fairly easy to get kobolds that are capped in ability2 (flashheal), so there is a potential +600 there.
If you are on a all summoner team, you may need to get out of shift on at least one of them, to get spiders to stop refusing to come to your defenses and get killed. They can get annoyingly stubborn on some maps, specially misty forest, costing a lot of time chilling at their spawnpoints.
Now it will be somewhat easier for me, practice in aquanos and then sky city for better drops (I hope anyways since i suck at doing lab runs lol)
I'm running Kings Game survival without a Heal Aura and stay around at the Buff Beam. I just go in phase shift if I see something interesting on the minimap.
he doesnt get weapons
