Here's one for the network gurus- Solved-
My son and I have have been playing for a while (400 + hrs). Now he cannot see any Trendynet servers to join, but I can. Checking the files always find 2 that need to be reaquired, which it does, but he cannot see the the Trendynet servers, I can, same network. He can creat a private match 50 % of the time. If i reinstall the game will he loose his Trendynet Chacters. Any ideas?
Thanks. PS the network is not the issue. Thanks

Solution: Trendyent, got back to me when I emailed them, directly. They offered two solutions, neither which worked. But I think the problem was somewhere in my Steam installation. Unistalling/reinstalling Steam somehow fixed the problem. It all works fine now.

I am impressed by how fast Trendyent responded to my email. Nice:)

Have you made sure no filters are on? Reset them to make sure. Are your characters the same levels? It might be an issue of being too low to see the remaining non-full servers.

Which two files? They could be important, or they could be junk that gets modified with no consequence...unless you need to get the same files, in which case it shouldn't matter.

If he can create (at least some of the time), it doesn't seem like a traffic issue...perhaps check that nothing is installed on his computer that would interfere with network data, such as Hamachi or other virtual LAN devices. (Oh, and make sure it isn't being blocked on a firewall or anything. Maybe also launch with the "-tcp" option.)

From experience, you should be fine to uninstall/reinstall -- The characters are linked to your account, regardless of proximity.

ZeM, thanks, you are spot on.Filters are correcft. Dont, know how to check which files are being reaquired durring the validation process. All his other Steam, Orgin games work in multi just fine, and of course we have the -tcp in the launch oprions. So re install probably the best option if u think. Dont have Hamachi installed unless its part of Win Explorer add in. Running MCAfee. Thanks Jetts Dad

There are a few files that *always* fail the verification if you have run the game since last time your verified.
Those are a few .INI files (various game settings) that get set back to install default and you can safely ignore that.
IIRC is it UDKEngine.INI and UDKCompat.INI, both of which get modified first time you run, due to some quality settings getting decided based on CPU and GPU.

Just asking the obvious, have you checked if he has a ban on Ranked/trendynet?
Ricster 26 Thg02, 2014 @ 9:44am
Ill check, Never thought of that. Thanks

No ban that I can tell, If I reinstall will he lose his On line Trendynet Characters. Thanks

Why do keep saying that? The trendynet/ranked characters are not deleted by a reinstall, they are stored online.
Only the local/open characters can be lost to a reinstall, but you can back those up first.
The file you are looking for is called DunDefHeroes.dun

Re-installing did not fix the probablem, Any Idea how to really delete the game and reinstall? Thanks

Works fine from other computers in the house. Just not on the one he uses next to me.

Does your son's computer only work when You are Not Signed in to Steam and/or playing the game? And of course you both have different e-mail accounts for Steam; correct? (meaning you bought the game twice or the 4-pack - not just one copy) I know these are silly questions but just trying to help.

maybe the windows firewall or another software firewall popped up and he or someone else chose incorrectly to not allow outside connections, i would check your firewall software and or your router etc.

Yes we have 2 copies of the game, with diffrent emails. Doesn't matter if im signed in or not. Turning Mcafee firewall off doesnt help. Have reset the network twice. All other multiplayer games on steam or Orgin work fine. He can create a private match on trendynet and invite me to his game, which works fine, but He can't see other shops or other games , all filters are correct. Im stumped thanks for the ideas.

Try going into DD properties and Set Launch Options and put in -tcp

See if that works
Jett 1 Thg03, 2014 @ 5:15pm
We have done that, thanks for looking. Trendyent is helping us now, we'll get it.

Not terribly surprising, we know DD should have worked, specially after a verify. Just goes to show that Valve needs to implement a verification option for the steam client - not just for the games.
