Found this hidden inside Portal 2 media.
Found this 1 second video of the following image.

It seems to be some sort of code. It is located at Portal2/portal2/media/ folder. The file name is valve_portal2_fp.

Does anyone know what this is? Was it part of the old ARG or is this new? The last update was on June 26, so someone must have noticed this alredy. Any ideas?

it's a SHA-256 hash that's used to fingerprint development builds (hence the "_fp" suffix). its sole intention is to trace potential leaks of internal builds during Portal 2's development lifecycle and have Valve corporate management oust employees who were involved in the act.

I dunno, it looks like a texture for a item in-game... could be some kind of image coding?

Me and a friend have taken extreme interest in this, we've tried converting it into both sound AND text, and the some we've come across is alittle chat symbol that looks like GLaDOS Core, in the second game. Has anyone any ideas?

intriguing. possibly it's just a glitch but this is Valve we're talking about, they've already demonstrated a fondness of ARGs before. sadly no idea how to decode it though
