Update Required

I went to play P2 this afternoon to find that I was getting hl2.exe'd whenevery i tried to launch the game. I decided to validate while I searched for a solution. Now whenever I hit play, it says "Failed to launch (Update Required)" Do not fail me this time, fellow test subjects. As I commented to a friend on my experience reporting a past error:

2:19 PM - The Commander(p): steam's forums are very good except when everyone ignores your error that you're trying to report in the help section while people are getting 100 replies for talking about thier cat in the same section
