my portal 2 keeps crashing?!?!?

same with me, in my case it loads the main menu and i can select chapters etc, the level loading screen comes up then right before the level is playable it crashes to desktop with no error messages, it was working fine about a month ago but when i tried to play this just started happening.

Do you have McAfee? if so try turning off real time scanning. That worked for me.

My game also crashes, but at random moments. I'm playing the game and suddenly it freezes and crashes. It goes back to Steam and reacts as if I closed the game. I'm not entirely sure why. I turned off real time scanning, but it still crashes. Anybody know why?

Me, too. In community chamber games, in regular single player mode - suddenly, in the mid of a level, the game closes. I have the newest DirectX, the newest graphic card driver, a 3 months old racing machine computer, a stable DSL.
I have this problems since 2 months - and it seems the producers don't care anymore about their game. Selling a game with no support at all is a fraud!

I have been having a similar problem with this game. Upon launching a chapter, the game will run fine for a few seconds, then crash without warning. A message appears, saying 'Portal.exe has stopped working'. This happens every time I launch the game.

Yes, This has been happening to me as well.

This has been happening since last update. Used to work fine, now crashes. I believe that it it limked to the Garry's mod bug's of recent eg. source engine problems. Could be wrong, but it's funny that GMOD has been having the same problems of late.

Its not a requirments issue, it just started happening recently, probably after a patch.

go to your library and right click portal 2, go to properties, local files and then verify integrity. this worked for me, hope it works for you :D

You are correct, there has been a 7.5mb update released. Hopefully, that's it sorted. :D
