Keeps crashing after the valve intro for no reason.

I don't do anything to it. It crash right after the valve intro scene as it goes into the little loading screen for half a sec then crash. Nothing just goes to my desktop as if nothing happened.(FYI I have not played this game since october 2013) Validating files made it worse as it just says servers are too busy ERROR 53. Error 53 has happened in many other steam games this year.

You say you haven't played since october? Hmm. It could be that your files are rusted, but I doubt it. It could also be that your computer forgot the error codes for the P2 files. A simple way to fix this is to reload P2. One more question: Have you used P2 authoring tools recently?

i had this problem and it was because x360ce files were in it, if you have any files that aren't related to the game files just delete them, then check files again, a 7mb file will be downloaded and the game will work with no problems

But a 7MB file isn't powerful enough enough to run Portal2. Portal2 needs a 3GB+ hard drive, verifying that your platform is configured correctly. Or am I just misunderstanding the answer here?

I have not messed with any of P2 files at all. I have not used any P2 tools.

Interesting. I think I would try reloading Portal2 before trying anything else.
