Portal 2 Crash

Whenever I open up Portal 2, it goes to the loading screen that appears just before the main menu, then closes. Can someone please help?

run as administrator, or check game cache

Running as admin doesn't work and how do you check game cache and what does it do?

u go into the option lowest down ( btw sorry for bad gramma hopes it helpes anyway ) confirm game cashen or somthing like that, click on that and confirm i dont know what it does 100 but it got my game wokring agian it louds somthing for 5 minutes ore so

Right click on Portal 2 in library
"Properties"
"Local data"
Verify game cache (Bottom option)
Wait a while, then it will download a update. It works for most people. Running as admin helped me.
