I enjoyed this 2 and half years ago...... when I was 13.
I'm 16 now and I look back and see that this game was good and fun.... for a 13 year old, but now that I am older and have more knowledge of PC's, I actually see that the graphics are outdated and EXTREMELY static. When BF3 came out 5 months later its graphic system was way better than this. The only thing cool is the combat. Storyline is very linear. No open world missions. This game is good for a single campaign play through and then it is bleh.

Funny thing is... You sound like a 13 year old.
Comparing this to BF3 - and praising BF3 to heavens, because of its graphics.
Oh you poor child
Well I am actually 17, but think what you will of me.

Because graphics make a good game
I am probably old fashion when I mention graphics. People today describes graphics as graphical art style which developer chooses albeit color layering, celshade, image-based 3d render, or even a simple sprites. Comparing two games such as Borderlands to BF is something we can't actually do so we fall in between the art choices.
So, what I am trying to say is, unless both games you are describing is using a same graphical art style then comparing for both is simply on a personal preferences in art direction. At least at the time when I was a young gamer, we focused on poly counts and whatever graphical enhancement was available in that specific game engine such as alpha or trilinear blending, antialiasing, or even volumetric shadow. I think of these things are "graphics".

Can you dumb it down for the OP?

Linear worlds is like handholding you through everything. Theres no where to go but one way. Theres no way to really explore....

I hope you can understand why most gamers do not like linear ♥♥♥♥. However, that really depends on the game type.

You don't speak for most gamers. Not everyone likes open world games. Hell, most people I know like both. Why can't you like one and the other?

I do speak for most gamers. I didn't say everyone likes open world games. However, most people do. That's just the way it is. You're going to have to live with that fact.

I'm almost certain it would be about 50/50 if you took a real poll of every gamer out there. You certainly don't speak for me, and I'd wager anyone out there would say the same to you.

Also I say again, what does it matter. Why can't people like both?

I'm sure at least 80% would not like a linear game.
Look at many games that failed. Many people hated how linear it is.

I didn't say people shouldn't like both.

Many gamers do not like games hand holding you through everything. Some people do.
Linear games is kinda handholding you through the process of completion. Of course, like I said earlier, it highly depends on the type of game.

If you read my post, you'll see the text that I replied to. Do you really want to continue?

If you look closely, you can see that this thread is really stupid from the moment OP posted. Just a heads up. ;o

I fully agree with that, but it's no reason for you to start telling people to kill themselves.
