First episode campaign
Hi

So Left 4 Dead 2 has the first episode campaign too? If yes, then why are they still selling episode 1?

It's still a different game. Different game servers, game modes, game mechanics, etc.

IMO, there is no reason to buy L4D1. As you mentioned, L4D2 has all the L4D1 campaigns and often sells for $4.99. Once you play L4D2 for a while, L4D1 seems restrictive.
I guess they still sell L4D1 because some people still buy it so why not keep selling it?

Because Left 4 Dead doesn't feel like a game Valve made in a year. (That was supposed to be DLC for Left 4 Dead any way...)

Because Left 4 Dead feels different, has a quality over quantity vibe, and because Valve did a total s*** job at porting the original campiagns over.

For one, L4D1 does not have Chargers, Jockeys, or Spitters. Although Rayman's Mutation Mod ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121070254 ) has a mutation that sets the L4D2 SI limits (and I think even weapon spawns) to 0, effectively only spawning L4D1 SI (and weapons).

For two, some game mechanics differ sliiiightly. For example, Hunters are capable of "wall jumping off the floor", so to speak. It's kind of like skipping stones across a pond. In L4D2 this mechanic has been removed. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there is any shove fatigue in L4D1.

Get both games. The game is completely different. It has challenges l4d2 doesn't have, that added challenge.

What do you mean exactly? Are there any significant change in the original campaign in episode 2?

Thanks the answers by the way.

Thanks the answers by the way.

First and foremost, the ported versions of the original campaigns appear to be from Versus mode of Left 4 Dead, there are several new openings and missing fences, et cetera, that are not present in the actual campaign versions from Left 4 Dead. (There are also exploit fixes, but unless you're speed running you won't miss those.)
Item spawns are different, ammo piles are generally swapped for single weapons, and you will less often find a full set of shotgun/assault rifle/sniper where there used to be all three in the first game.

Second, there are gauntlet crescendoes at the fourth chapter of every ported campaign save for No Mercy. There are quite often at least one or two other gauntlets before then, where they used to be holdouts. I still completely despise the Dead Air metal detector in Left 4 Dead 2.
(There is also a chance that an M60 will spawn in Death Toll that is impossible to get to.)

Third, the ported campaigns are noticeably brighter in the second game than in the first. This is probably the fault of Left 4 Dead 2's shaders.

Fourth, the original survivors have hand posing errors in first person by default. Their hands will clip into weapon grips rather noticeably.

Fifth, certain survivor dialogue options either simply do not play, or are heavily biased toward a certain set of lines such that while the other dialogue lines are in the game directory, you don't hear them. I can't confirm this as I only have my personal experience to go off of here.

Ok. I think I will get both on the next sale. :) Thanks.
