Wait for B/W to heal? You gonna die several times in versus if you do that.
edit: Maybe thats why you survived only half of your coop and versus games..
At least in my view..
Especially if you're falling behind. Having less than 30 hp slows you down, which means you won't be able to i.e. run away from Tank. Being incapped in just one hit, killed in another is a stupid way to die, especially when you do have a medkit in your inventory.
I dont bother with Versus due to the extreme majority of trash-talkers and generally unpleasant people there. We all have enough crap to deal with in our lives. It doesnt need to be made worse by someone throwing a hissyfit in a Versus game which is supposed to be recreational fun.
Still, the Medkit analogy remains. It is 300% more efficient to use a Medkit only when Black-and-White, not counting if there are spare kits or defibs you cant carry and thus use one.
If you read my original post, I did say, quite literally :
There are many other situations where it 'may' be beneficial to use a Medkit due to imminent danger to your group, such as when everybody is low on temporary health, but not black-and-white (to prevent full-team incap) or before a Panic Event, such as Alarm Doors or Hordes.
Or whatever Versus example you want to pull out.

Primarily, this is to inform people who seem to think that going from 100 > 0 is automatic death. They are not familiar with the 3-knockdowns rule of L4D. Annoyingly, even after they have been knocked down multiple times before in previous levels and still cling to their habit of using Medkits like nobody's business.
Today I played with quite literally the worst players I have ever played with, in any online game, ever. This is not a name-and-shame board, but in all seriousness, they were not trolls and were legitimately trying, which is why I find it so hard to fathom that they were completely and utterly incapable of understanding such basic gameplay concepts.
Advanced Difficulty. (Not Expert). Numerous attempts.
The four of us left the saferoom (Dead Air : Terminal) with 88, 90, 86 and 85 health. There were only 2 medkits amongst us.
One of the players took a single punch from a Common Infected. 5 damage. He used his Medkit.
- - -
In the distance between leaving the Saferoom and going down the Escalators to the bottom floor (where the Van is), they had used FIVE Medkits and each of the three of them been incapped twice.

In a corridor with just 3 Common Infected standing around, so I crouched against the wall and prepared to shoot them. One of the players decided to throw an explosive gas-can infront of me and then try to shoot it, somehow shooting me with roughly 25 AK rounds and missing the gas-can entirely, despite the fact I didnt even move. He then decides to Medkit me for the otherwise pointless roughly 40 damage I sustained from his bull.

Player 1 had 50 green health and decided to Medkit himself. Then we heard a Horde coming. I threw a Molotov a long way infront of us, in danger of nobody, to enflame an entrance the Commons would surely be coming through. Player 1 then decides, for absolutely no reason, to run forward into the flames, lose all his just-healed health and be incapped.
Player 2 with roughly 70 green health then decided to run into the flames to help Player 1, and was thus lost all his health and was incapped by the flames. After helping them back up, Player 2 decided to use his Medkit.
Player 2 then decided to jump off a high ledge and immediately incap himself, again, not even 10 seconds later.

All 3 Players seem to have a Bot-style Deathwish, deciding to run up point-blank and literally hug the Tank whilst firing their weapons, instead of running away whilst shooting, resulting in pointless damage taken. Seriously, I mean stand absolutely, quite literally infront of the Tank and try to shoot. All of them.
No, they were not on Idle mode. They were playing. More Medkits lost.

Dead Air Finale. All four of us are sitting in the "best" corner. All is going surprisingly well. First Tank comes. We kill it. But then Player 1 decides, for absolutely no freaking reason, to run miles away and sit on the Gatling Gun by the Fuel tank - all by himself - ages away from the rest of us. He subsequently dies.
3 of us remaining. We sit back in the corner. Roughly 2 minutes after Player 1 died, Player 2 decides to do the exact same thing and run off all on his own, but this time in a seemingly random direction, only to be Boomer'ed, knocked down, then Hunter'ed.
2 of us remaining. 2nd Tank and Special Infected come along and ruin the day.
Oh, and to top this all off?
They used Medkits like nobody's business. But none of them would ever, EVER, use their Pills or Adrenaline, despite having them and clearly making an effort to go and pick them up.
They must walk on red temp bar, to learn how to save the medkit..
And if asked, i say, you wasted your medkit, now you deserve to die..
If you are in a random group that doesnt seem very organized, you have to gauge whether you think they can pick you up before you die. Are they covering you or are they just rushing ahead ignoring the fact that your character is injured? If you can probably make it to the safe room without another medkit, you may as well just use it.
In so many random public groups, being incapped once actually is a death sentence because you get stuck with horrible teammates that dont work as a team and dont pay any attention to what is going on around them.
And thats just in campaign. Versus is a whole other story, especially since you start at full health with a fresh medkit each chapter.
Don't assume everyone plays versus dude, you should be able to tell when the OP is talking about versus or just regular co-op
Sorry about that, sometimes i even forget this game has coop..
Friend can have 20HP, I can be black and white and I will give them my medkit and just play more careful without dying.
Tell 'em I don't give a f***
Dharok The Wretched, does not give a f*** what you think.
Tell 'em to suck it
If you don't like it, you can s*** his f***ing c***.
Tell 'em they kissed my a**
Little did you know, upon reading this comment, you have just kissed his @**.
Tell 'em I'm fed up.
Dharok The Wretched, is fed up with your s*** - and he's going to kill you.
A-anything else?
Yeah, ban me.
