no one's playing on expert anymore
i feel like valve is pushing their luck too far, this game is being made harder and harder all the time. regular infected can swing you from much further now, hunters and jockeys has their own gravitational pull, they just need jump in your direction and the game will do the rest. spit does damage from distance also, boomers can puke to different side and can still hit you.
you can't even play advanced anymore, if not friendly fire from then regular infected will round you up like cockroaches and there's little you can do to not lose half of your health.
maybe you should renaim "advanced" as expert and "expert" as impossible. game got really annoying.

And that's coming from person who have about 1300 hrs of playtime. Unbelivable.

Most players that can clear expert actually moved on to friends only game. Reason is simple, the amount of trollers is just too much. Based on own experience, for the past 2-3 days per campaign i had around 3-4 trollers that just enters the game, TK and leaves for no reason. Expert is not impossible, just that it requires time and patience instead of just rushing head on into a horde or into other people's line of fire.

Advanced is still highly doable even with bots. I've cleared all the official maps and the addon maps that i have at the moment with 3 bots on advance and i still cleared.

Turtle and the Hare man. The slower you go the better you'll do. Especially when faced against realism expert. Look for items, know what is worth keeping and what's worth tossing. Work with a team and communicate the best that you can. I've met plenty of fantastic players who aren't just good at L4D but are fun to play with. You just gotta ignore those griefers while they're in your game. HMU if you need help on expert!!!! :surprisepoop::flowey:

The people that populate public Expert campaign games include: griefers, trolls, and newbies. Experienced players do not play on Expert, and if they do, they rarely play in public games. The only incentives for playing on Expert are the achievements, and personal masochism. The habits and skills you pick up playing Expert difficulty do not translate well into any other game modes. Expert is artificial difficulty, Versus mode is true difficulty. If you want a challenging campaign experience but you don't play Versus, then I suggest you play Hard Eight, Special Delivery, or Hunting Party mutations on Normal or Advanced instead.

If you have 1500h and find Advanced too difficult, I suggest you actually start learning how to play the game. You have probably spent your 1500h learning bad habits and now you cannot think outside of your own little constructed box, which is why you have trouble against AI.

I got to agree with some of your points, regular maps aren't just interesting anymore. better players move to community created maps that are usually imbalanced and playable only on normal.
still seems like valve does updates based on "normal" difficulty, they should test it better before shipping updates.

I have a question OP. You seem to be quite active on L4D2 judging by your weekly stats and all.
What difficulty/gamemode do you usually choose?
I play advanced/expert 99% of the time and 4/5 times I join a decent team.

Problem I found with custom maps lately is one group which is invite only has tons of L4D2 servers and nearly every single campaign on its server, and I always connect to it, meaning I am forced to turn the match into EASY mode and still fnd it not enjoyable because tank has larger attack radius, attacks 2-3 times in one hit and massive more HP as well as witch able to KO you right away.

I wish we could block groups and not be put into their servers because I failed to find any other servers to host for maps and alot are very popular and have had better servers before. Heck players in other countries are host and still get connected to that one server. Making custom maps not enjoyable unless you local host......

Didn't they make L4D2 harder in someways just 2 months ago or so with an update?

I find it easy to find any decent team in advanced, only time you struggle is when there has just been a steam sale and all the newbies go straight to advanced and refused to listen to advice

Mostly, I play either Realism Expert or Versus Mode

Valve has not made any gameplay related updates for this game in several years.

I was big fan of advanced and at one time I played nothing but expert. but now can't see my self in expert, there are so many unavoidable situations that no matter how good you are you will get hit, and there's nothing you can do about it. that what it makes so annoying, unless you wan't to crawl from corner to corner or slide besides the wall all the time, you wil get hit.
