No blood or tracks after hitting deer
Anyone else have this happen..shoot a deer square in the lungs, see him collapse in the scope stand up and run off but when you go to where he was NO TRACKS, NO BLOOD or any kind of evidence he ever existed...he just disapeared like a fart in the wind with no way to track or find him...

Bye bye consecutive kill points AGAIN!!!

I get this in high traffic animal areas or need zones.

Very seldom have I lost animals because of it though. Patience and slicing the pie nearly always finds the track on the other side of the need zone/high traffic area.

Tracking is one of my most favorite things in the game though so I've gotten pretty good at it. Being Red/Green color blind I had to get good at it since I started playing before they put in changing sign colors.

I would reccomend to you to change your sign colors up so that your eyes pick up the differences better.

Just happened to me today. I had herds of white and black tail deer gathered up in a fairly small area. When they stampeded because of the noise from my atv (was heading up to unlock a lookout) I jumped of and laid down so I could try to call them back. Just then another deer trampled me and I died because of damage from a previous fall. I headed back up the hill and they were still milling about the area so I went back and forth between calling them in and shooting. Several animals I know for a fact I shot had no blood trails so I spent the next couple hours killing a few and harvesting them to make their tracks go away so I could try to make sense of the chaos of glowing white lights all around me. While chasing down a few I only grazed I managed to find some dead in the area which I assume were the ones with no blood trails. I am guessing the game was struggling to simulate all the different tracks and animals since there were so many.

Steams refund policy is public knowledge. Do what you want. What a wasted post.

I've only had this happen on red deer for some reason. Never once noticed any other blood or tracks actually disappearing, even in heavily populated areas or with large herds. Yet, has been a very common occurrence on many many red deer. No blood, no tracks. I believe it's mostly been during evening/night when it happens. No, I'm not just missing them. Most of the time, if I mark my area, move away, pull up binoculars, pull up map (idk if those two things make a difference, I just do it in case it resets something in the scene.) Then go walk over where I hit the deer, usually they suddenly pop into place directly under and around me. Tracks/Blood both suddenly appear.

There have been other occassions where a trail may "appear" to disappear, but those are easily picked back up if you investigate the area better.

if you haven't already turn on the glow and particle option under game settings. This solved the no sign issue for me and I have tracked some animals a couple of miles using this option. Would be nice is we could track them without this like real life but...

hmm, I can't imagine anyone would play without that on to begin with. If so, I must stand up as a responsible member of the community and excellent giver of internet advice by saying : Please stop inflicting self-harm, this is bad.

Happened to me once when I was a long way off, like over the other side of a lake. When I walked around there was nothing despite searching for ages. I definitely hit him because I saw him stumble etc.
