Left 4 Dead

What do you think of the cross over of Left 4 Dead and Payday The Heist?
As some of you may know there is a level in Payday The Heist where we are taking a visit to Mercy Hospital and now we get to know that the outbrake started here and who's patient zero. But we still don't get to know if it's a natural virus or if it was created in a laboratory. But it declines the theory that the special infected developed after the outbrake, because at the end if you fail to complete the map you hear one of your team mates turning into a Smoker in the elevator.Additionally there is a 50:50 chance that you can see Bill at the start of the level and CEDA get's mentioned.

So all in all I think this is a great map and I think fans of Left 4 Dead will have their fun with this map

That crossover was mainly done to give sony something L4D related since they didn't get a port of the game on the PS3, unlike Microsoft which got an Xbox360 version. And the virus is by CEDA according to the game. According to Valve, the crossover story is not supposed to be canon, which is very ironic considering that the story actually makes plenty of sense and can tie in nicely to the events prior to L4D. Either way, it is interesting to see as an "What If" story.

Here you can see the various lines Bill may say when you're in the elevator.

Edit: I also find it ironic that Bill got all these new lines in Payday, but got ZERO new lines in Crash Course. There are also masks for the Payday characters based on the Hunter, Smoker, Boomer and Tank.

Here's one with the Witch in it.

I know of this masks, I have them, too, because I own Left 4 Dead. But this with the Witch is cool. Too bad she isn't breaking through the door XD What also would have been an awesome idea if you could see one of the patients from the quarantine area would be crawling and growling to you like a Hunter if the doors to the rescue elevator are closing. I think of a Hunter, because the eyes of the patients are bandaged and you can't see the eyes of a Hunter either. And yeah, now where you mention it, I also think the virus was created by CEDA or the military. Otherwise the likely wouldn't have arrived so quickly.

Too many inconsistencies prevent a good tie in, actually. Mostly the layout (There are a few doors and one or two rooms, that don't exist in L4D. Or the biggest and most obvious one: The elevator. The roof is facing the wrong direction in relation to the elevator and the 4th floor is the lowest one in L4D while in Payday, they get into the freaking cellar with it). Or Bill was never at the Mercy Hospital. Like, at all. In fact, he was in an entirely different one (which was CLEARLY shown in the Sacrifice comic - which is canon).
Or that there is a Witch despite there aren't any infected yet.

I guess the part with the Witch is just an easter egg. I guess it's the same like the beating heart of the Statue of Happyness in GTA IV. And what's with the elevators that are at the same floor like the safe house in Left 4 Dead? They don't work, that's true, but they are there.

Cool. And yeah she doesn't break the door cuz it's just an easter egg. Your Hunter scenario would have made another cool easter egg. And yeah, the virus is artificial and strongly implied to be by CEDA (just like any virus in real life being artificial, but I wouldn't go further into that because most people just don't know otherwise).

I was reffering to the storyline aspect being a good tie in, not so much the map layout. They kinda had to expand the map in Payday because their scenario and gameplay requires it. If the map were left intact from L4D, it probably would have made that heist easy, since the police and such would only have certain entrances.

As much as I like L4D, it itself has many inconsistencies, especially in map layouts. Some are very unrealistic. Just look at the building you start in with No Mercy. Strange building to say the least. There is a room that has a TV, furniture and what not, but no doors or windows whatsoever! That makes no sense, but I know why they did it. Then that same building from the outside (from the alley point of view) only has 2 windows for the entire building. Not realistic at all. And what happened to the fire esape, Tank, and Zoey's second pistol from the intro that fell to the side of that same building? The pistol and the Tank are gone, and the fire escape has been magically moved to the side of the next building. That fall also should NOT have killed that Tank. He only fell from like 3-4 stories and dies, where as in game you can fall from any height as a Tank, as long as the ground is a walkable area and won't die.

There are a lot more instances of these inconsistencies, another good one is the end of the second Sacrifice map. Before closing the saferoom door, look outside to the area that leads into the next map. It has a different layout from the actual next map, even though it's supposed to be the same exact area.

That's true but the particlar elevator Bindal refers to is a different one from those two. And yeah, it is strange that particular elevator in L4D starts on the 4th floor, but it's not realistic.

However, I don't knock L4D for any of its inconsistencies as I still find it a very fun and entertaining game :)

Ahh now I know what's wrong with this elevator. I remember to be stuck on the ground in Versus while the survivors made there way up to the roof XD Yeah that's really odd, but otherwise it could have a sense. For example if someone from an other part of the hospital or patient brought by an ambulance or helicopter has a deadly desease and has to be quarantined at once it would be more safe and faster to have a second elevator which directly leads to the ICU rooms instead of the public elevators who may stop at every floor and which are used by everyone. Yes I know in Payday the elevator is stopping at every floor, but I think that's because of gameplay reasons or because it's hacked by Bain.

Yes that's true. I'm not sure, but I also think that the layout of the cortyard isn't completely the same as in the intro and the door which should be damaged by the With is completely undamaged later. or if you look at the street where the survivors met the Tank ( I mean the one where the HUMVEE is broken through the wall) . There is no throwed car or damaged fence. It's completely empty.

Or in Mercy Hospital if you are in the cafetria. You are in the second or third floor of the building, but if you look out of the window you has the exact same view as when you are on the roof. And the Mercy sign which you can see throughout the entire campaign ins't visible at all in the final level. I don't want to hate the game( there would be other arguments like the complete lack of a story ;) ) but I just wanted to mention this points I noticed during the game.

I hope you will like it^^

Btw I found an other easter egg. When you make it to the ICUs without startng the alarm a nurse is talking to about the status of the quarantined patiants and sometimes she says This patient has what we call the Green Flu.
