It's no Gran Tourismo 5 which is only available for PS3 and the best all around racing sim available IMO but it's close.
Others will disagree. Maybe they'll explain why.

I still play, but I'm using the "unnoficial community mod" which improves the exprience a lot (heck, just because it removes the wall and car magnetism it's a must).
I think that the fact that the Steam version never was officialy fixed plus people using incompatible mods has killed the public multiplayer.

The real name was "Unoficial Community Patch" or UCP. It's a mod that fix bugs and improves the game, but doesn't alter the game handling. But because it also removes the magnetism (when the car seems to get glued to the wall when you touch them), it's end improving the gameplay too.
Supposedly, you can only install it on the retail or Origin version, but if you do the "multiplayer fix" that I posted earlier, you can install the patch over the Steam version.
So the whole process will be to install the Steam version (which you already have), install the Origin version, do the multiplayer fix, uninstall the Origin version and finally install UCP over the Steam version. A little messy, but recommended if you like the game.
I have UCP installed on the steam version, works just fine!
But I'm considering if it's worth the effort to instal Origin to fix the multiplayer bug..
I am looking for a good driving game that a friend and i can set up lan style, for lan nights. We find that NFSU 2 is brilliant, with the tracks and customization, we are running Thrustmater II driving units. So I am looking for something along thoses lines that we can go pure head to head in, with multiplayer as a side dish as it were.
If any of you have any good suggestions they would be welcomed.
Thanks for replying and the advice will take a look at that game. If it races as good as it looks, Yeah that would be worth the money, and at 10$ a steal.
