Shift 2 Unleashed
Are the Steam and Origin servers connected?
Just wondering because I have Shift 2 on Origin and have never seen anyone on multiplayer. If so would anyone be interested in some multiplayer?

Unleashed 2 is not all that popular. I've had it for a couple of years and have only seen any MP sessions online a couple of times.
Really? I think the game is awesome. Its not the best sim racing game but it has very good graphics and if you know how to tune a car the handling is pretty good. I think they did a good job selecting the cars that are in the game as well. I used to hate Gran Turismo and how they had hundreds of cars and alot of the time they had multiple versions of the same exact cars. And i'm only talking about Gran Turismo 3 and 4. I haven't played 5 but I have heard that there are over 500 cars in that game. Ridiculous! Do you still play Shift 2?
I don't disagree at all. It is good. But the buying public in general disagrees and I've never been able to figure out why.

It's no Gran Tourismo 5 which is only available for PS3 and the best all around racing sim available IMO but it's close.

Others will disagree. Maybe they'll explain why.
Steam, Origin and retail, all play in the same servers. Steam version has a multiplayer problem though (it's fixeable), you can read a little bit more about it here:

I still play, but I'm using the "unnoficial community mod" which improves the exprience a lot (heck, just because it removes the wall and car magnetism it's a must).

I think that the fact that the Steam version never was officialy fixed plus people using incompatible mods has killed the public multiplayer.
What's the unofficial community mod? What does it do? Add me if your interested in racing sometime.
Here it is:

The real name was "Unoficial Community Patch" or UCP. It's a mod that fix bugs and improves the game, but doesn't alter the game handling. But because it also removes the magnetism (when the car seems to get glued to the wall when you touch them), it's end improving the gameplay too.

Supposedly, you can only install it on the retail or Origin version, but if you do the "multiplayer fix" that I posted earlier, you can install the patch over the Steam version.
So the whole process will be to install the Steam version (which you already have), install the Origin version, do the multiplayer fix, uninstall the Origin version and finally install UCP over the Steam version. A little messy, but recommended if you like the game.
Actually I have the Origin version. I don't think I have ever experienced any bugs either. I will take a look at the patch though thanks.

I have UCP installed on the steam version, works just fine!
But I'm considering if it's worth the effort to instal Origin to fix the multiplayer bug..
Hi Asking all Drivers.

I am looking for a good driving game that a friend and i can set up lan style, for lan nights. We find that NFSU 2 is brilliant, with the tracks and customization, we are running Thrustmater II driving units. So I am looking for something along thoses lines that we can go pure head to head in, with multiplayer as a side dish as it were.

If any of you have any good suggestions they would be welcomed. :borderlands2:
I have been playing alot of Grid 2 recently and I like it alot. It is alot different then the Shift series in that it's more of arcade style race. It has decent car selecetion and the tracks are pretty good as well. It doesn't have many real world tracks but the layouts are still pretty good. It's definitely not worth the $50 price tag but I know where you can get it for under $10 and at that price its a really good buy in my opinion.
Hi PowerHaus930
Thanks for replying and the advice will take a look at that game. If it races as good as it looks, Yeah that would be worth the money, and at 10$ a steal.
If you're ever interested in buying it let me know.
