Help Please: Bought Sims 3 on Steam but have disk DLCs

So, my Sims 3 disk broke and I saw Sims 3 on sale on Steam, so I bought it instead of going out and buying a new sims 3 disk, but I still have all my DLCs on disks. I try installing them but it says I require the original Sims 3 to do so. Is there a way to get the DLCs onto steam or did I actually just waste money getting it on steam?

You wasted your money, perhaps you should've read one of the other 500 threads asking if retail keys activated on Steam first...

This is my first time on the steam community forums. I honestly thought that you would just have to input the CD Key or something :/

That only works for games that activate on Steam. Your best bet is to take the CD-key for The Sims 3 (base game) and activate it on Origin, and then play the game using Origin. If you want an expansion on Steam you have to buy the expansion on Steam.

You can register the cd key for Steam Sims 3 and your retail expansions with Origin, then you will be able to download the game through Origin and play it with your expansions.

This 100 percent. It's your only option unless you want to try and get replacement media from EA if that's even possible.

Start Sims 3 downloading on Steam and right click on it in the library and choose view cd key. Take that cd key and the cd keys of your dlcs and make an account and register them on sims3.com. You can then use the EA origin client to download them all working together.
