Problems with the Sims Store Content not working

I have plenty of Sims Store content that I have paid for when I had the disc version of Sims 3, now I have the base and DLC games through Steam only. My Sims Store content installs in the game launcher but then doesn't work in game. When I exit the game it shows the content hasn't been installed. I am not sure if this is a common problem or not, but since I have spent quite a bit of money on the Sims I am extremely pissed off about this. I am on Windows 7.
