Tips for beating Sagat as Guile

I'm having a lot of trouble against Sagat's lately and just wondering if anyone has any tips for the matchup

watch your replays over and compare them to what pro players do, analyse your own gameplay if you're losing to a sagat on roughly the same level, and try to incorporate. i realise it's fairly general as advice goes, but, with it as a start point you'll likely notice and try things you haven't been thinking of.

its not that easy to zone out sagat. one of the reason is because sagat has many options to beat the hell up of any characters in the roster OFFENSIVELY AND DEFENSIVELY.

You can try to not give up space and walk forward to push the Sagat to the corner. From there you should be able to pester him with normals and flashkick him if he tries to jump out.

Sagat can throw alot of fireballs to keep you at a distance, but right when he's throwing fireballs is the perfect time to jump at him. If you can force him to spam, you might even get away with it. Guile's sonic boom is the kind of ranged attack that lets you move pretty soon after putting it out, so you might consider trying to close the distance by walking alittle every time you throw one out. As Guile, the basics are your best tools, so reall work the focus cancels and never be afraid to make a Sagat come to you. If you can keep the fight ranged, then stay crouched inbetween sonic booms to be ready if Sagat jumps at you. If you can get close and time your attacks to keep tiger knees and uppercuts from slipping in, you should be good.

Vannila Sagat was supposed to be op. Pretty sure he's been modified alittle since then.

You can't really jump over his tiger shots on reaction without getting punished for it, either try to read his patterns and hope to catch tiger shot recovery with a jump, or stay on the ground, you should be able to get in range for back knuckle or hk without too much trouble. Once you're that close, many Sagats tend to jump at you or do a tiger knee and this is when you can go to work on him. Until then, look for opportunities to hit him out of high tiger shot recovery after a projectile trade with a good knuckle.

Its okay to throw projectiles at distance but as you'll know, unless you get lucky with your ex sonic booms there's just no way to win a projectile war even with pre-charging.

Your best bet is to search youtube for sanford vs dieminion matches. That will help you out immensly. It did for me. Cheers

Hell, I just focus through them.
Nothing scares a sagat player more than watching an akuma known for using RD rush through his barrage of tiger shots, charging his ultra and doing what appears to be a RD buffered into the sagat's auto-medium kick reaction.
The look on their faces when I land it! XD It's gotta be priceless!!!
