Sound problem
Don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but judging from the videos I've seen, and experiences on Train Fever, all the engines I've had running so far, well, the first 4 European Steam locomotives, they all have the same sounds.

I know it's a minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥ really, but I could have sworn they weren't meant to have identical whistle sounds, I've seen a fair few different ones in the sound files. Is that a problem that anyone else has had? I've tried verifying my files, deleting and reinstalling, it might even be a config file issue...if I knew where to find the blasted thing, can't seem to locate it in Documents or Appdata.

Any advice?

Okay, I've had a peek into the models and audio files, and it looks like locomotives such as the d1_3 and Borsig do have different horns on their soundset settings. But for some reason they are both using the same 'horn.wav' file in the sound sets, is there a way to remedy this?

Thanks

I have the same problem. I deleted the horn files that repeats all the time, and that locos hasn't sound now, but it's a pleassure not to hear the same sound for diesel or electric loco

Ah, didn't expect this to get responded to, you'll be happy to know I found a means of sorting out the horns!

It was a bit of a lengthy process, but what I did was I went into the soundsets, copied the base steam train lua file, manually changed the target of the horn line to match what was supposedly set in the model mdl files, then copied each process for each different train model. For some reason, unlike in Train Fever, the game doesn't distinguish for each model's setting if they're all using the same soundset lua. But when you separate them into new, individual files and match the new lua filename with the model name exactly, and make sure they're targeted correctly, the sounds work.

I can share the soundsets I have with you if you'd like? I have contemplated putting them up on the workshop, though I'm not sure how I'd go about it.

Buff thanks a lot, but no one more has that problem! I think the first step is reinstall this game, and wait for it to be resolved. But if not, i'm happy to send me the files or publish them into workshop (i think there are a lot of tutorials on guides page). Thanks a lot again. I will send you a MP with my email

I'm testing and the problem persist. Don't know the problem only is on my spanish version of the game, but something is missing.

On original folder there are a ".lua" only for "train_diesel", "train_electric_modern", "train_electric_old", "train_steam_modern" and "train_steam old".

I think the game don't read the .lua of this mod (or the files) there is no .lua for specific train on my original folder of the game, and I think this is the problem. When I add (manually, copy, paste) this files to my folder, the trains sounds the first time but no more... I will try to search the solution but I'm not a programmer XD

I'm cheking again and see another thing. On "res/models/models/vehicle/train" are a lot of .mdl configs that says to the game what sound reproduce, but works only on first time (diferent sounds of the locos) when you select another train, the sound changes again. I'm very frustrated with that! XD

Ok, I found a solution! :)
Need to change the line "soundset" on .mdl files to the .lua files of the mod, and now it works!

EXAMPLE:

(ORIGINAL) soundSet = { name = "train_steam_modern", horn = "vehicle/train_steam_old/steam_horn_20.wav" }

(TO) soundSet = { name = "a3_5_705", horn = "vehicle/train_steam_old/steam_horn_20.wav" }

I knew I'd missed something in the mod, I did change the mdl files originally, but I was quite tired when I spoke to you over PMs, forgot to put those in. I'll add them now. Thanks!

Hahahaha NP, I'm satisfied with your changes! Thanks again!
