I know what they look like, I'm just saying profit wise, its not a great investment.
MvM is simply too expensive. Wacker m8 - you are right about the prices, but IMO the problem lies with the cost of the tickets in the first place, not the value of the items afterwards.
I dont need to pay anything, I know that, but boot camp is full of people who join and leave at a moments notice. Joining through the server list gives a 95% chance of endless adverts. You also get alot of new guys and kids in boot camp who simply do not know what they are doing (Not an out and out dig at these people - i am just pointing this out)
NO - the only real way to get a good game of MvM from start to finish is to pay.
Compare to the other pay to play in TF2 - duelling. A duelling ticket costs $1. For that you get 5 duels. and if your duellists do the descent thing - you can double that as they duel back. Win 10 duels get a free item and another duelling ticket. At the very least a half descent duelist can get 10 wins for around 2 tickets.
OK - so the rate of item return is much better with mann up. You are guaranteed an item for your $1. But here for me is the nub of the problem. In duelling you can play all day for a couple of dollars. In Mann up if you are any good $1 buys you 1 hours pay. IF its a voucher group - thats $3. For ONE HOURS PLAY.
A bit of a moan I know that - and before the flames start I am not poor or anything. I can afford the tickets. Its a principle thing - IMO the tickets are simply too expensive, and I think we should make a stand. Somehow. This is simply too much money for one hour of game time. And to make matters worse the better you are - the more it costs.
At the very least there should be a way of earning your tickets back. Maybe IF you dont fail a round in an advanced mission you get back your mann up ticket. Maybe if you dont fail a round and get A+ you get a free voucher. (they wouldn't be giving many away - trust me on that). Maybe they just do the descent thing and slash the prices in the store by at least half.
Do something Valve - please - throw us a bone on this one.
And again as i said before, why the hell didn't they allow those random ♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapons from vouchers to be strange?
I can't comment on the duels because i have no interest in them although your points are correct.
I've sold about 9 Gold/Blodd/Diamond Botkillers on Steam and all the money goes towards more tickets.
So for me they are cheaper:P
I dont play x6 maps per tour..too long
It only evens out for the amount of time spent in expert, and the time trading; Unless you have done so many tours that the weapons you earn have those outside-of-the-game viewable high-level numbers.
TOD tickets are never dropped
as long as you don't complete the tour you won't use anymore tickets at that point.
Huh, I'd never even thought about doing that...
