How to get the item servers to work?

Tf2 is crashing more than normal, about every 8 minutes now. This isnt that bad, because I am used to it being a crash fest, always has been since they started putting in all the unlock weapons and such.

Anywho, this didnt used to be a problem, but now every time I crash it no longer allows me access to the item servers when I subsequently restart the game, this is getting rather annoying.

How do I fix it? Tried logging in and out of steam and that doesnt fix it.
