Team Fortress 2
Tux's Price
Hello everyone.
I just gathered you here for debating on the new penguin, the Tux's price. As for me, I think its price will go around 2 buds.
Here's why : Right now, there's 59,826 copies of Earbuds distributed in TF2, while there's only 35,752 Tux. Pretty much a good evidence for the Tux's price, no ?
Anyway, just feel free to comment and post your point of view. Good day !

2 buds??
Be really thankful if that stuff ends up being worth more than a key.

My friend, thank you for introducing this most excellent and fascinating of topics! And might I add, rather timely as well; we haven't truly had an in-depth discussion regarding this matter as of yet. My wish for this thread is that we FINALLY, once and for all, come to some kind of definitive conclusion regarding price. For days we have surmised, speculated and posited, scratching our heads in front of our computers like those five blind chinese guys feeling up that elephant, wondering WHEN O WHEN will we discover the answer that has ELUDED our needs like a beautiful woman at the Seven-11 and GNAWED at our consciousness like a rabid beaver! Not since "Twin Peaks" has such a question titillated and tickled the collective imaginations of the public! And I will be the FIRST to happily impart my economic wisdoms just as soon as I can get my mom to give me the new battery for the laptop.

40% of the earbuds are on a VAC banned account, 20% of the earbud owners aren't even playing tf2 anymore so ??

Meanwhile the F2P's created tons of alts just to get the tuxes and thinking they will be worth a bud and linux is free, tf2 wasn't free back to 2009 and you had to get a mac to get the buds which costs a lot of money.

Am I wrong ?

You pretty much are right.
You forgot about not being any kind of trading back when the buds were awarded, though.
Buds were given between June-August 2010. Trading was introduced a year later, on August 2011.
Back then it was an item you got for yourself, that you couldn't trade and had no 'market value' at all, since there was no market.
(The irony is that i could have had a pair for myself back then, since i had easy access to Macs, but i couldn't be bothered to get them. They were just another cosmetic)

Right now every single new item is seen under the light of trading. Every promo is bought, hoarded and considered as market fodder.

There simply can't be an "earbuds 2.0" or a "Bills 2.0" because the premises that gave those items the characteristics that make them 'valuable' can no longer be repeated.
