Rarest/Most Expensive Item in TF2?

I was just curious, what's the rarest item in TF2? And what is the most expensive? I know those earbuds are worth a fortune, but I feel like there's something even more expensive.

Also, is it pretty much too late now to sell winter crates? I sold my first Naughty Crate for $.75 before Christmas, now I'm struggling to sell my last one with people selling theirs for as low as $.30 (Clearly I'm not very experienced with the economy system in this game, lol)

There exists one unusual Bill's hat given to the wife of a Valve employee, the effect is hearts which I think is rather sweet.
But that isn't tradeable.

Well anything with the valve quality is probably rare as its meant for the valve employees that play TF2, but otherwise do you mean tradeable or marketable? Promo items are of course very valueable, for example a vintage Lugermorph is tradeable but the Unique ones are not. Of course the one of a kind top notch hat for Notch himself is probably it. But its a matter of community opinion and whats hot and whats not at the moment for some items. Wow, i really need to get a life sometime, or get my TF2 to actually work
