Upgraded to premium, still no item drops

So last week I finally upgraded my account to premium. I got no item drops, so I thought maybe it would kick in once the cap reset. Yet I've played several hours and still haven't received any item drops. Any reason why?

Additionally you should also get drops as F2P anyway, just not hats and paints, etc

Your connection to the item servers must be derping. It happens sometimes, thought luck when it happens.
Besides that there's no difference in drops between F2Ps and Premium players
(Besides the occasional hat drop)

I'd submit a Steam Support Ticket. They'll have record of your purchase and should be able to push it through.

Besides trying to get your internet connection to be as much reliable as possible, none that i'm aware of.
You can always nag the support guys, You'll surely receive a 'Drops are automated, we can't do anything about it' response. But maybe someone will hit the servers with a stick in the meantime

How exactly does the connection to the item server work? I've seen threads about downloading the item schema, and on my DC it says it applied the item update, but I guess I don't know.

According to DrunkenF00l, manually udpating the Item Schema was no related with fixing drops, and probably causing more problems down the road, although some people reported the manual update making drops come back.
I'd point to the proper post, but it's in the now being 'maintenanced' SPUF.

I briefly tried the manual update even though the DC said the update was applied with no change, so I removed it.

Contrary to popular belief, upgrading to premium doesn't actually increase the rate of item drops, or increase your chanses of getting rare items. It just adds more things which you can get from the drop. The chanses of drop remain the same.
