This update seems like a very bad idea, especially when it forces you to move all of your custom items into one place and call it good when the files are alreeady in the game's directory where it no longer thinks to look.

So in the custom file I create a custom golder and put ( for example I have Star's HUD which has an installer) I put the installer there?

You put the unpacked files there, or the VPK if that's what you get. Putting installer executables there isn't too useful unless that's how you can get the installer to unpack things in the proper places.

That seems to be how ALL Valve games go when it comes to customization and their updates

Copy paste the materials, models, etc. folders into a folder that you move to Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom.

Not everything's broken, it's just that you don't know how to install mods anymore.

Is this a HUD? You should have materials too.
