TF2 Suggestion: Turn on/off pyrovision manually
I got Infernal orchestra, nice thing, but ofter a few days of pyrovision I cot crazy, and got rid of that damn thing :) Would like to get Balloonicorn or Reindoonicorn, but when I remember pyrovision...
What do you think? Would be nice to you can turn on/off pyrovision manually on item whenever you want?

I think there is a console command that you can bind to a key to do that.

Yea I love my dropped balloonicorn but it puts on pyro vision automatically and it throws off my aim. I only see pyrovision fun when Im playing doomsday as a pyro otherwise I find pyrovision to be extremly annyoing. So I guess I can agree with this.

What bind command is it so I can use it?

Well... You can turn it off, but not via console commands.
"VisionFilterShadersMapWhitelist"
{
"" "1"
}
Copy that into a text file, then name it mtp.cfg, then plop it into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\YOURNAMEHEREBRO\team fortress 2\tf\cfg
It won't get rid of the sparkles, high pitched voices, or overal cuddliness, but it will get rid of the My Little Pony-style coloring.

I like pyrovision, the problem is it makes my game slow even though I have a really great computer. Yes, there is a console command, but most people, including me, would rather not bother with that and have no idea how that works.

That right there is a bunch of gibberish that most people can't understand. We need an option on our items that lets us simply turn pyrovision off.

Correction, JonahD, it's a bunch of gibberish that YOU can't understand. Unless you give me a statistic from most people, you would be wrong in saying that most people can't understand.

Copy the following text into a text file.

"VisionFilterShadersMapWhitelist"
{
"" "1"
}

Once you've copied that into a text file, save it as "mtp.cfg". Once you do, save the file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\YOURNAMEHEREBRO\team fortress 2\tf\cfg, but instead of "YOUNAMEHEREBRO", it will be your Steam login name. This will remove all Pyrovision textures from the map.

I hope that helps!

Actually its simple coding and hes giving you the code to copy into a text file. Its not gibberish.

I'm sure there's some statistic somewhere that says most people don't know coding and don't want to bother with it. Everyone I see just likes to play their game, they do not know how or want to mess with the games code. They want to plop in the disk and play, thus why consoles are more popular. Why the heck do we have an options menu? Why didn't Valve just go tell us to mess with the code instead of giving us an options menu? To makes things easy and simple. That's what people like. I'm sure I could learn how to change the file to turn pyroland off, but that would take me a couple hours. The same could not be said for all my friends, they would be pounding their keyboards with their heads trying to figure out how to turn pyroland off. No, they're not dumb, they just don't know anything about code or want to know anything about code.

It's barely even coding, it's just copying text into a file, and saving it as the right name, and right place. As easy as installing a skin, a map, an addon, or anything really.

And consoles aren't more popular for just plopping the disk in to play, they're popular because they're cheap and comfortable, and there are a lot of great games exclusively for them. And recently, weird and nasty-awesome innovations.

And the people who like fully customizing their game - the people who like to MAKE their own game like to play with code. People like yourself even, who want to turn off Pyrovision, when equiped with them fancy goggles! And it's as easy as playing the game itself. Here's a fancy documentary on coding, including bits on grade-students coding! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU1xS07N-FA starring Gabe Newel himself!

As for learning to change the file to turn pyroland off, it wouldn't take a couple hours for anyone, my niece can do it, and she can barely read! All it takes is the ability to Google, and the ability to copy and past something, and save it to the right place.

Oh! And another thing to point out; you just, more or less, coded yourself! When you typed the whole quote from JonahD thing, you did the exact same thing as what some fancy nerd peoples do! It's much easier than people percieve, because people don't try.

Would changing the "1" to a "0" keep Pyrovision on even without a related item?
