Mann co crate w/ no number?

I discovered a mann co crate in TF2 with no number on it. I checked my profile's backpack and my in game backpack, and it has no number anywhere. Anyone know what's going on?

looks like certain crate numbers were removed in this most recent update
do you remember if it was an expired crate?

I have never seen anything like that happening before. Did you find it that way or do you think that the recent update change it? I would not open it if I were you because it might either waste your key or corrupt your inventory data.

Ok it looks like the series number was removed from 57 for some reason. That's probably it. Nothing rare, all crate 57s will be affected.

just ignore the idiot. He clearly doesn't value it enough to take a look at your BP to see its not a salvaged or the fact that this is an alt account. I'm not sure what it is either. Try googling it?
