Why do people remove value from items that are gifted?
Just some blue text below the image of the item makes it worthless to the community?
I dont know why people conform to that. It's idiotic.

Edit: this is for high value items, like unusuals. I dont think people would care if a normal weapon was gifted.

I don't wanna know of someone else receiving my item as a gift. This item is MINE. It is not some gift an ungrateful person just resold.

Alright, back to topic! And as others have said, people either have some "ocd" towards having the "gifted by -so and so-" on their item. It's all opinion based, probably depending on who.

It's also removable, I believe.

I wonder too since the 'gifted by' text can be removed with restore.
Probably because some people either don't know about the restore function, or are "sentimental" or something stupid like that?

Because if you saw 2 hats in a store, but 1 of them had the words: Gifted by: Billy John, you'd want to pay less for it too.

I'm selling my unusual for cheapest on the market by atleast half off just because of the damn "gifted by" ♥♥♥♥.
I tried removin the gifted by crap by wiping it, but all that did was remove its halloween spell.
And, the "gifted by" thing says "[unknown]"
that might be the problem.

If it's not restored using the restore function, then I'm not too sure how to fix it :/
