TF2 won't launch.

I have played TF2 for over 300+ hours and never had this problem. I press play and it shows the box that says preparing to launch then nothing happens? It shows im playing TF2 for about 3-4 seconds and it just goes back to being online.

I have googled this problem and i noticed that a lot of people too have this problem.

Can anybody help me?

I checked all of these and it still doesn't launch.

Try restarting the computer, then logging back in. After that, try to launch tf2, which might initiate a validating files action. Let the files validate until it says its done or at 100%, then you might be able to play tf2.

Ok, sorry. Try a defragmentation of your files, then a scan. Some files might have been corrupt or you might have a virus, or both.
If this does not work, you might have to uninstall and redownload tf2.
Also make sure you have Steam beta working, this might be part of the problem.

I validated my files and defragmented them already. I redownloaded tf2 just a few hours ago. I have steam beta selected too. But this didn't solve my problem. I appreaciate your help Samuel :)

And i did a scan and no virus was found. :/

Ok, well if I discover any way to fix this, I will let you know. I'm not just saying that as like a if I run into an answer, I am really searching purposely to find out how to fix your problem.

If you need any more information, this problem happened after the halloween update.

I found a thing in my library of team fortress 2 beta, and lots of people play it. So it is probably legit. See if this was sent to your library for download from Valve. I haven't downloaded it yet, but it might be able to fix the problem. I have not installed it and I can still play tf2, so this will probably not fix it, but its just a shot. I didn't send it to you, I think Valve sent it to everybody, since lots of people play it.

I don't see it in my library and i can't find it in the steam store.

Maybe i'll just wait for valve to push out an update to fix my problem. :/

The TF2 beta is only in the library of "Premium" TF2 users. Basically, someone who has bought an item from the Mann Co. Store.

Hmm that explains it. I'll check my other premium account to see if theres a tf2 beta there.
