Also it was just thrown away in a random folder inside the "custom" one.

When taken in a screenshot, it doesn't look like a model overlap but more like a total disformation, I really don't know why this is happening, but there's apparently no fixes.
Verifying cache doesn't always work, I had tried to install a Payday 2 mod, failed, game wouldn't work. I varified cache and it was still there.
Your best bet is to uninstall and reinstall, and see if that helps. You won't lose your items, you'll lose nothing but time from having to redownload everything and all maps.
Even tough this is just a lil' glitch, I won't waste 7 hours redownloading the whole game etc.
About the skin I totally removed the custom folder, all I left is my lil' self-made HUD modification.
