Good ping, terrible input lag
I'm on a 2010 Macbook pro with pretty decent specs. (512 Mb VRam, 8GB Ram, 2.66 GHz i7 core) My ping on servers is always below 100, usually at 50. Yet I'm having terrible input lag all the time. This only started recently, but before it worked perfectly. It may have something to do with Mavericks. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's really bugging me.
UPDATE: It works fine when I use bootcamp. (Windows 7)

Does the input lag feel like this?

[when you hear the beeping.]

If it does...then we both got the same problem..

I can't really tell.

Googled it for the heck of it and found:

Don't know if it's the issue you guys could be having but anyway...

Oh. My. God. Surely strengthens my impression of Mac users and apple fanboys. Accept stuttering, flickering, jerkiness for years and then accept that the "fix" is to install AutoCAD? And nobody, not even Apple looks into this because the ignorant will always buy their stuff nevertheless.

I'm not having normal lag. It's input lag, which means that my computer isn't communicating to the server what I'm pressing well enough. I do wish I stuck with Mountain Lion though. Mavericks doesn't add a whole lot that I'll ever use.

The input or "what you are pressing" is the ONLY thing you are sending the server. If your ping is fine then the delay has nothing to do with the game of choice.

And no, it isn't about the physical computer either since it works in Win7 rather than just the OS.

My conclusion based on this and the other thread is it's in the Apple drivers that provide slow / unoptimal access to input and they're not interested.

=> You need/want Windows for gaming and Macs for nothing. (but Apple software development) Surprise!

I can play the local practice fine. CS:GO also works fine. It's just a problem with TF2's mac port. Everything else about my computer works marvelously. Mac vs PC debates are the same as arguing religion. No one will change their minds, and everyone will end the discussion pissed.

I'm not against Mac vs PC debate but rather not have one here where the admins are all random. I agree it's pretty similar to religion as far as debates go although I have a bit stronger incentive to debate religion and also a lot more respect for believers. Some of those folks are very smart and just gullible instead of pretentious.

I'm just stating getting a Mac for gaming is like getting a motorcycle for winter transportation. They might be cool and expensive but it makes you look really stupid when you complain that they don't actually do the job so well.
