Playing with friends: how?

So I have a group of guys I wanted to start playing TF2 with, and I cannot find proper information stating to how and if I could form a team, so that we were all playing on the same side.

I'm sorry if this is something blatantly obvious, but I cannot figure it out.

You can join a friend's game by right clicking on them in your friends list and hitting "Join Game". To get on the same team you'll just have to wait on spectator until your friend's team gets an open slot.

Just go into the steam Friends overlay, click the grey arrow next to a friends game, and press join game if they're in one. That's as far as it goes. Just have one guy join a game and the rest of your friends and yourself join off that friend.

One thing I'd like to add to everyone else's comments: Mann vs. Machine (the button below "Play Multiplayer" in the main menu) is a co-op mode where you play against bots, so if you want to guarantee you and your friends are all on the same team, that's really the only way to do it.
