You're confusing scamming with sharking.
Did you try to convince them of the value of one of their items? Then you might've sharked em, depends on how bad a deal you talked them into. Otherwise, it was on them to know their items' value

???
Scamming: lying, giving false info, manipulating

Making profit: no lies or misleading info is happening durning the trade

Scamming: like saying "My keys are untradable, I will give you money after you give me this unusual."
Proffiting "Buying 18 Ref, Selling 18.11 Ref"
I gave someone a strange and taunt for almost a page of various metals. And I promised a strange rocket. (I gave him one) At least 9 ref 5 rec and 6 scrap. I didn't disvalue his items but I didn't tell him mine were not worth it. I don't know which it was and I didn't want to scam him so... Which ?
He asked for stranges and asked for a taunt so...
You didn't lie to him, he was just clueless. Not your fault

Thanks !
Scamming is where you lie to the poor sap you are trading with
Profiting is if both of you agree on something with no dishonest info
Some people have been buying crates for 1 ref each (not lying he was advertising to buy them)
There's a huge difference between profitting and scamming, but the question is, how far away is the line where it's CONSIDERED scamming?
I think all trades should be fair, and profit is still a fair trade, as the other person agreed to it. Scamming, however, usually uses third party sites and manipulates people into selling their items without knowing the value.

I don't think sharking is scamming because they know what they are getting from the trade, it's their fault for not looking up the price

That definately wasn't your fault though. Always check the prices of you items first.

He even had a few hours or a day between the trade and my items so...

That is 100% not your fault, he should've checked the prices of the items with all that time.
